Description

Your default Safari web browser is not customizable. And when you want to use a font or style designed for accessibility, this creates a problem.

The openWeb Browser is a browser that helps solve that problem by giving the internet a more readable style on your iPhone (and iPhone 5) and iPad.

• The default font is OpenDyslexic: a free open-source font designed to be easy to read, especially for dyslexic readers. This font looks great on retina displays.

• You can toggle between OpenDyslexic and ComicSans double strike-through.

• Symbols are bolder, and darker, to help detect sentences and phrases.

• Reading mode on iPhone/iPod Touch lets you read the page formatted for the screen size, and with less distraction!

You can full-screen the browser at any time to remove distractions by tapping and holding. Return to the default view by tapping and holding again.

openWeb is free, and has no ads, and never will. It's simply a project I use, and have made available to help others.

Crashes constantly

meronhudson

For the price of this app, I should not have had major issues the second I installed it. It crashes repeatedly regardless of what I am doing- and for $40, this is ridiculous. Save your money, don't bother. (Yes, I reinstalled it and reset my iPad several times).

Do landscape support

Nice, but needs more work

Opening the app while in landscape mode gives you a screen keyboard locked in landscape mode while the browser is locked in portrait mode. This makes it hard to see what you're typing. I had to kick the app out of memory and restart it while in portrait mode. It would be nice to have landscape mode as an option in addition to portrait, though.

Also, there seems to be no way of getting access to the settings back after dismissing them; there should be some placed in the iOS Settings for easy access and perhaps a way to return the settings to default. Besides deleting and re-installing the app, of course.

I am not dyslexic, but I have trouble keeping track of sentence lines, and the font seems to help with that. I like that this is available; it's a great project. Looking forward to seeing how this eventually turns out.
