Like it but have suggestions
I really like this game. I upgraded because I wanted to be able to play more games at a time. I have a couple complaints that are really annoying though.
1-the win/losses are listed in alphabetical order. This is dumb. I play the same person over and over, so if I want to see how many of the last few matches I have won it is a pain because they aren't in order. You have to scroll all the way down and count the wins/losses for each of you. This also makes it so I don't know when a match ended. If I missed the "game over" alert that pops up, then I have no idea who won the last one. The last game might be lumped down with all my wins at the bottom or it might be in my opponents section at the top.
2- it is annoying to have to scroll to the bottom to start new games. This should always be at the top.
... As a side note, the "start a new game" interface is slightly confusing. If you click "play now" you can't play a friend. In my opinion, that is a dumb name for that button. It should be "random opponent" or something like that.
Fix these things and add a pass and play option... Then it will be great.
Oh, as a side note... The dictionary doesn't have "Christ". Maybe it is considered a proper name, but that seemed weird to me.
...that most people I play seem smart and many reviewers seem stupid; e.g., "Why should I pay two bucks to play this brilliant game?"
That said, the game has some fundamental problems:
1. Lack of chat. The brainy players might like to say something like "Well played!" I have tried putting my email in my Game Center avatar; no takers.
2. Lack of declaring, or proposing, a draw option. This is needed when both players are continually avoiding remaining letters. The game might do it programmatically after x rounds. Currently, one may simply remove the game. Resigning sends the wrong message. Or, one may resort to a "cheat": a chat feature would allow one to fess up, and both of you learn a new word, or play a loser, and point out the unplayed winner.
3. It might be fun to have some rankings.
4. Short of chat, one might like a simple query as to whether one's opponent is using...artificial intelligence.
I totally agree that the developer has made it hard to communicate, and shows little interest in incorporating, or even responding to, suggestions. That said, buy the app.
Has potential to be great
Fun little game but unsatisfying for a couple of reasons: the last word played goes by too fast, maybe needs a tap to acknowledge or could stay up top until next word played.
Also, unless you win the game you don't know when it was won or with what word unless you go searching for it. That game just kind of disappears for the loser. Could use more obvious feedback (with minor fanfare) for you won or you lost. People like a little fun acknowledgement.
Would like games to stay in time played order.
Some stats would be fantastic, i.e. you played this many games with x opponent, you won y, she won z.
I paid for the upgrade. Nice game but needs a little oomph.
