Update to initial review - I actually played this one again, and the gate puzzle froze completely this time. Nothing I did could get me past it - no reboot or anything. Finally waited for the skip to charge to get past it, but the charge on the skip took forever, much longer than the regular charge on the rest of the skips (which weren't needed.) initial review below....
As most reviewers have mentioned, this game is short. Even in advanced mode, it was short. That said, it was a nice game for the sale price. There was a hiccup near the beginning where it froze, but it worked just fine after I shut it down and restarted the game (at the same place where I left off). Could be because I tend to shut down the iPad with games still open, not sure. I didn't have any of the trouble that others are complaining about with hidden objects not being 'picked up' when you tap them. All scenes were very responsive for me on an iPad 2. I'll give it three stars. Minus one because a game has to blow me away to get five, and minus one for the length.

This one is similar to most hidden objects games with the exception of the items are mid evil and are unfamiliar to some people like me. The items to find list sometimes use words modern day younger generation may not understand. This said I find this game refreshing and more challenging than others recently played. I found myself using the hint button a little more than normal. Some items are hard to see. Things to suggest for the future: when you've tapped on a twinkling place and have retrieved all the items, it should stop the twinkling so you know it has been completed. Short term memory loss! Big Fish, I also ask you caution people who have seizures or sensitive to light about some games you recently have had large areas to flash to proceed to the next scene. Just a suggestion. This one I am considering buying. Thanks, BF!
I never cease to be surprised at the variation in the quality and playability of Big Fish games. One would think that games being developed at the same company would have similar design and function.
This game really disappointed right from the beginning. The game backstory is not particularly interesting, it's been played out so many times. Frankly, I'm also tired of only having the option to play female characters. This must be what female gameplayers felt when all the games used to have males as the protagonist. I get it, there were insufficient female lead characters. But does that mean that every single hidden object game that Big Fish produces must be played through the eyes of a woman or girl?
Anyway, back to the game. The hint system was the least developed I have seen in one of these games. When you press the hint button, rather than it direct in you to your next location it simply displays a message stating "nothing available at this location". The hint functionality only works if you are already in the screen that requires action. The puzzles are either incredibly easy or exceptionally hard, there are a few that are simply playable. The game is very short and, unlike most games, there is no epilogue game to play.
All in all, given the plethora of Hidden Object games available, I recommend you pick a different game.
