What's New in Version 1.22
- Fixed crashing when using certain potion and scroll on yourself
- Language files updated for final black quest
- Slayer of Kings sword now does less damage to teammates
Excellent but with flaws
UPDATE: With all the upgrades and additions, this game has become my fantasy favorite. It is excellent, especially with the new addition of the Undead. And now they've made the purchasable magical sword Slayer of Kings less menacing to your own party when the Marauder uses it, so that's wonderful. Having bought the sword, I ended up never using it after it wiped out my entire party twice! Who needs a magical sword that does more damage to you than the enemy?
My point is that this game just gets better and better. Well done, Rodeo Games! I look forward to future expansions...one of which, I hope, will have a female paladin!
(My first review after game first came out:)
I've had many hours playing this with great enjoyment. There have been some annoying crashes at inopportune times, but they've been few. At times the game throws discouraging numbers of opponents at you at very discouraging odds (I've had a party of all 6 level adventurers wiped out in a level 4 dungeon by endless reappearances of web-casting spiders). As others have said, the game is definitely pricey. But on the whole worth it.
Impressive digital interpretation of a classic game
Despite the higher than average buy-in price (for app store), I've ended up buying every DLC for the game. It's so satisfying to level up characters, kit them out and level up, I'd buy more if they had them. The story is exactly as you'd expect from the dark and gritty Warhammer franchise.
That said, its not without its flaws. As stated before, the buy in is pricey, and some DLC Characters are flawed. The high elf wizard in particular is mostly frustrating, as his skills are randomized between defense and offense. He also finally got his heal skill at 7. The ogre is a close second, but is forgiven for "mighty swing" skill.
The others are amazing. The adventures are too. Especially enjoyed the skaven. But the undead addons are really halfasd, wih no story addition or map additions. You can actually skip those too.
Despite the minor issues, I can say, Hands down, that this is the Best Warhammer game since THQ was making 40k games, and imo the best strategy RPG on the app store.
Awesome dungeon adventuring!!!
I grew up playing D&D, and other games of the like, however I have never played a war-hammer board game. Now that I have an iPad (air) I've been on the hunt for all sorts of games like this one! I think of all the quarters I dropped at the arcade back in the day, so spending $.99 for this game was a no-brainier. After playing my first session with the standard characters my first impressions were that it seems kinda slow, but after I gained a few levels I can't put it down, I been playing everyday. I don't like to play games with in app purchases, because I feel most developers use it as a tactic to get more money without providing any more content. With war-hammer, all the IAP is extra content so I bought it all and I'm not disappointed. Random dungeons, random treasure and random character skills mean a lot of replay value. I hope they make more!!!!
