Art expertise it ain't

A good, fun app, but with more than a few eccentric errors, some, no doubt, inherited from odd databases. For example, it is Winslow Homer, not Homer Winslow, the artier brother, I suppose, of Homer Simpson; George Dunlop Leslie, R.A. (son of C. R. Leslie, Constable's biographer), not George Dunlop, R.A. etc.

But the largest, and frankly funniest, error is the use of the word "originality." If a dealer claims (correctly) that a painting is by a given artist, the painting would be designated as authentic, (usually not original, but original is fine). The problem, however, is with the meaning of originality. It can never properly be used to mean "by a given artist." Instead it means "how unique and inventive was the artists conception."

Although to tell you the truth, my greatest fear is that a lot of art connoisseur wannabes will run around now looking for fashionable images in paintings. Ah well, at least the app is fun.

No Zoom ruins a different style of game

Funzai! the developers, have created a different style of game with beautiful artworks. Many of the reviewers on Big Fish likened it to the Chocolatier series. I liked this game as it added in Hidden Object scenes and an innovative type of spot the differences.
..While I found it a bit confusing, I might have continued to play it, but the partial game screen combined with No Zoom (and using the iPad's zoom is too tedious for a whole game) made it impossible for me to enjoy or to make me want to take the time to learn how to play. Too bad as it has all sorts of possibilities and would be interesting for art lovers.
..And at a much lower introductory price, I still might have bought it to play for short periods. No zoom=no $, sorry Funzai! Some games need to come in at a lower price, that is just the way it is.

Great start but-----

Interesting game with lots of options and great graphics. Found after playing a while, however, it becomes very repetitive, only so many cities to visit and paintings become monotonous.

Would like more development with museums and paintings. Also more challenge in cafes locating flaws. The same flaws appear to be in each counterfeit painting and after locating them once, know where they will continually be found---why bother?

With that being said, still have to give four stars due to the various "layers" to play and the fact there are some great paintings to view.
