An Unexpected Tavern

This app is only available on the App Store for iOS devices.
A dwarf, a magician and a halfling walk into a bar… epic parody! Get this free app and live the tale of one halfling chef and his quest to regain a stolen special ingredient. Mobile catering meets high fantasy and time management in a game about a halfling tavern that pops up in all sorts of places!
Bobo Buttkins the halfling owns a food & beverage business. The problem is that halflings in his village are pretty awful customers: they eat and drink in vast quantities but frequently “forget” to pay. Even worse, a mysterious evil figure has just run off with Bobo’s special ingredient! Desperate for revenue, poor Bobo must roam Midgaard in search of customers while pursuing the thief over hill, over dale, through bush, through briar, and so on.
Guide Bobo and his ragtag band of caterers across Midgaard. You will visit the tranquil elf-home of Splitsvale, brave the forbidding heights of the Impaired Visibility Alpine Range, and venture into the Gloomweald, which is a smelly forest with a severe bug problem and is about as pleasant as it sounds. Onward!
You must help Bobo and his busy staff serve the hungry denizens of Midgaard. Work your way through several amazing locations while facing extreme catering challenges as you attempt to serve “colorful” clients. With customers like nasty goblins and snarling wolves, no one ever said that life would be easy (or long) for the proprietor of An Unexpected Tavern!
Hire and level up stalwart companions to help you run your mobile tavern. Your heroic assistants include the sturdy dwarf Boring Larchbuckler, the pecunious elf L. Ron Half-Alien, and The Great Gandolfi, conjurer extraordinaire!
Think strategically as you upgrade Bobo's mobile tavern into a legendary brand renowned across all Midgaard. Perform well and you will attract famous customers like the annoying Begonia Satchel-Buttkins and the mysterious thief who stole Bobo’s magic ingredient!

Best of genre
This game is cuter and better put together than most restaurant-service games. The "stress element" isn't too intense either; it's pretty easy to make sure customers don't leave angry.
Being able to revisit levels is good. It does require some level grinding from time to time, though.
The "gem-only" purchases can take a long time to save up and buy without paying money, but gems do appear as rewards pretty often.
The Lord of the Rings parody elements lie mostly in character names and appearance, which makes it strange because they never tell customer names outside the game-description. Player-characters are all named.
I look forward to future updates and expansions- it would be great to see more levels, and perhaps a "dollhouse" element of decorating your taverns would be fun.
This game is amazing, the best time-management restaurant game I've ever seen. It has a charming theme that adds to the overall greatness. The reason I gave it only one star because I purchased the 525 gem bundle for $4.99 only to discover they took my money, but I had no gems. I emailed them recently, but until they fix this, they get one star from me.
Within 7 hours, they credited me 1050 gems. Basalt Games is a great company that I'm glad to support.
Better than expected
I downloaded this on a whim, and am honestly surprised by the solid gameplay. Though to be fair, it's pretty much Diner Dash - Parody Middle Earth. I just wish there were a few more funny cut scenes through the travels. I'm already at the third stage and not so much as a one liner. Kind of disappointing. Overall a decent game.
