Dark Parables: Snow Queen reviewed by Lynxminx
This game had the most beautiful graphics of all the Dark Parables! Too bad one scene was ruined by a big RAT! You know me with rats; but to be fair it is only in one HO location. Usually I don't care for fragmented hidden object scenes, but the items to be put together were so pretty I didn't even mind.
This game was fun! I wish it had more and varied puzzles and minigames though. Also it would have been nice to have a teleporting map from the beginning of the game instead of just the magic portals. The game was also fairly short! I would have liked to unlock many more gorgeous locations! At least it was a collector's edition so there was a bonus chapter and now I have more exquisite wallpapers from the extras! This game was well worth playing for the sheer beauty of the experience! I took the one star off for the RAT and because the game was a bit short, but good gameplay overall. I didn't really find it glitchy but I haven't played the bonus chapter yet!
Thanks, Big Fish for a magnificently gorgeous game for a change! Remember these games don't have to be gloomy and disgusting to be great! I am going to play the new Awakening game and hope it's beautiful as well! Also (hint hint), when are we getting a 3rd Empress game? These were the first games I ever played on the iPad and are also ethereally magnificent too! Now those games were lengthy and also had great graphics and puzzles!
I've played the others in this "dark parables" series and they're all great. I personally love Blue Tea Games (the developer). Every single game they offer for iPad, I've bought and played. IMO, there is a standard of excellence, polish and all the elements it takes to make a great game that they ALWAYS have. Highly recommend. PLEASE, Big Fish offer more Blue Tea Games, would love more of the "Macabre Mysteries" series, this, and any other also. For me they're a Must Buy, happily, for $7 bucks "a pop", I've never regretted it on this great developer. More, please!!
September 2013~ STILL my favorite, by far!! Unfortunately, from the iPad premiere of this game until now, Big Fish have not offered any other Blue Tea Games game(s). I know they exist, they're available, some at least, on other formats, i.e. Mac/PC. I don't know if Big Fish reads these, one would hope they would care to know what their "target market" wants, please make more Blue Tea Games available on iPad! It's obvious that I'm not in a small minority who love, buy and rate highly these games. Please more!! You're making me beg, LOL.
One of the better games out recently. This is shown by the richness of the environment. On lesser games, the only things that are interactive are the things that you need to actually do something with. Here you can click on almost anything and get information about it.
The map was extremely useful, although there were times nothing was shown as an area of interest or as an objective. In this case, you need to go through every room and click hint to determine what next to do, which I found moderately annoying. Also, I'm not a big fan of HOS where you have to find molecules of items, but I got used to it.
Finally, everyone is remarking of how wonderful the graphics are. Perhaps I downloaded a not HD version or something, because if I tried to zoom in on a HOS, it instantly became grainy - therefore zoom is useless. But maybe that's because I have an iPad 2 or something. Anyway, a thoroughly enjoyable game, worth the price.
