Flavorful but needs work

Infinite runner games are a dime a dozen these days, and its hard to find a lot to recommend this one. The flavor is spot-on, and the announcer is great to listen to, but the game quickly loses its sheen.

The biggest problem is a lack of variety. Two backgrounds, alternating in the same order, makes the player painfully aware of how his current run stacks up to previous ones. Two power ups feel limiting and dull. Upgrades are similarly utilitarian, with no one-use items. It's like they tried to make a startup product, some sort of minimum viable alpha build, and shoved it out the door figuring that they could always add content later. Even the otherwise superb voice work could have used about three times as many snippets.

The difficulty curve is rough as well. You're limited to one life, period, and spend a long time in areas that quickly become routine before the challenge ramps up abruptly, leading to 10 or 20 seconds of good gameplay before your untimely demise. Multiple hit points or a more varied difficulty curve would solve this problem.

All the same, the core mechanics are good and the animation is beautiful. It's a perfect "heartbreaker" game--good enough to want to keep playing, but flawed enough to be frustrating.

No variety

don't get me wrong, this is a great game...
but it completely lacks variety when it comes to levels.
After playing a few times I started to realize that the same level was repeating, and it was quite annoying.
For an infinite go game, it NEEDS randomly generated levels to keep the gamer coming back.
Also, their are only two power ups which are too original, but they're fine for a new game.

I hope and trust that the developers of this game update the above stated soon, but really otherwise this game IS pretty dared fun for what it is as of now.

great artwork, boring gameplay

Animations and artwork are great, however the gameplay is quite boring. Levels don't even feel randomized. The shop is pretty boring as well. Upgrades are rather pointless, just costumes really. Despite the nice animations, in general the game repetitive very quickly.

I would hold off on this one until they make it more interesting.

Edit: After playing for a while, I decided to lower my rating to two stars. The reason for this is because the upgrades are incredibly dry. The weapons don't do anything, not even additional animations, and the other upgrades I just completely pointless. You will get bored of this game within 10 to 20 minutes.

Not even great artwork can save a boring game.
