Whoever is behind NimbleBit possesses the golden app formula. Everything about their games from the aesthetics, to the concepts, to the personal touches, absolutely makes every NimbleBit game a hit. I have 9 folders on my iPhone -- one of them is titled "NimbleBit".
Pocket Trains is perhaps my favorite NimbleBit game. Maybe it's the logistics planning, maybe it's the relaxing music, or the funny things that need to be delivered. This game has that indescribable "x factor" that draws me to spend literally hours of my life playing this game.
One thing which I would like to improve is the ability to see all possible train routes in the game. I guess they do it to keep you from getting overwhelmed at first, but I would really like the ability to plan out my long term train routes without having to go online to see a completed map. I really see no harm in at least including a world map in the options menu at least. Otherwise, I love the game.
Could use more
I want to see NimbleBit add some things like more cities, trains, etc. and also have the option to build like double tracks so you could have two trains running on the same track (as to say like two different trains run on the same tracks) and BITBOOK! How could you forget one of the most important features in the tiny/pocket series! And the passengers will talk about the train ride. Also, a complaint you may have been seeing is the landscape mode. Also, the bank system is kinda bad. I liked the pocket planes system where it was a set price. It's still good, but it has become not as good as I thought. If you are a seasoned NimbleBit supporter, it isn't fully recommended, but it's up to you. For beginners, it is a little less complicated than Pocket Planes or Tiny Tower, but when they upgrade, it would seem a little half assed. Like stated, still good.
The game is really nice. Easy to learn, entertaining in a strategic way, and you can play for a long stretch of time before the trains run out of fuel and you have to stop and wait.
I took 1 star out for two reasons. 1) It is annoying to keep getting the basic slowest trains out of the crates on my 10 lvl. Seriously, the crates should scale to level. Yes, I start getting better trains as I progress, but I don't want any more lvl 1 trains and I don't care that I can sell them. The game dollars spent on opening the crates should translate into some value. 2) The train repairs - they are so random and have no justification. They just happen, and you gotta spend on them. Why? Could at least be a story behind it, or just remove this element altogether. It doesn't add to the gameplay.
