This game is a boss. A literal boss.
This game is geared towards people with brains.
The first cases (1-3) are easy to solve. I believe that they are geared towards 8-10 yr olds. They are a nice introduction to the game, and prove to be interesting.
Then. It gets fun.
If you proceed to buy the next pack (cases 4-6), the cases are a bit more challenging. The cases get more complicated and intriguing.
After completing the first few cases, the main professor, Alfendi Layton, is seen in a type of Jekyll and Hyde performance. Halfway into the last encounter of the case, Layton gets moody and cruel. However, fortunately Layton returns to his regular self.
This background storyline is intriguing and makes you eager to complete the game.
It seems that the story takes place in Europe, so the English is a bit different than American English. Some people (mostly the haters of this game) would argue that the European English is too difficult to understand, but I (and basically everyone else in America) begs to differ that the use of European English simply makes the game more interesting and additionally adds a more fantastic element to the already amazing game.
In addition, the many accents that the creators give the suspects are exceedingly comical, making the game all the better.
Although it would be better if there were more levels, and the level packs were cheaper.
PLEASE MAKE MORE LEVELS. THIS GAME IS THE BEST!!!! 😘😘

I love games that require you to solve mysteries, and "The Prof" does not disappoint. It's true that this game is only tangentially related to the DS/3DS Professor Layton games, but it's still great fun.
A few notes about the negative reviews: the translation in this game is fine. One of the characters used words like "summat", "nowt", and uses past plural tense when past singular is correct (ie: were instead of was), which is all indicative of Yorkshire accent. While technically grammatically incorrect, it's true to the character and a perfectly reasonable translation. There are other characters that use broken English, but it is made clear that English is their second language.
The mystery solving can be a bit linear, but you do have to use your brain and choose the statements and the evidence you gather in order to solve the crime. While you are given infinite chances, it's still supremely satisfying when you do figure it out. The graphics are fun and somewhat comic-bookish, and the interrogation scene animations are really clever and unique. While it can be dialog heavy at times, it's worth it, because you need to read, retain, and think about the information you're presented in order to solve the mystery.
The plot is twisty, but not too shocking. Overall it's a fabulous game that's worth your time - a bit more cerebral than most, and cracking good fun.
great, but too short!
Anyone who knows me knows I'm picky in my reviews. I've played the game and made the first purchase, and I must say the game is outstanding for anyone truly interested in real investigating and deductions. There's no punishment system for novices, making it appealing for all levels, yet it doesn't take away from thrill of being correct the first go. I've been waiting for a great game like this that follows real investigative strategy, and does present a decent challenge. (I'm a little more advanced in my deductive powers) However, that said, there is one major complaint I have for the game. ITS WAY TOO SHORT! The in app purchase prices aren't bad, but they are very un-rewarding in the few cases they unlock. For us salty dogs, we'll go through a little quicker than the rest, especially. PLEASE MAKE MORE. There's not much replay value once you've solved a case, so there needs to be more content to keep it rewarding. Plus, the game is so good I son't want it end! If you can do that, you can count on my continued patronage, which I'm sure is a nice element for a developer's expenses. Your followers are sure to rise if you do, and the game will gain a far greater following. Besides, we both know it's highly improbable that a team making a game like this wouldn't want to continue it. I know it will end someday, but I think that day is quite far from now :) 5 stars when you continue in rewarding fashion for your customers.
