Helpful, but one glaring (surprising) shortcoming
This app was very useful to use on our wonderful cruise this week. I didn't have any issues with losing my connection, nor did I experience any bugs or glitches. My one (rather important) suggestion for improvement would be to integrate it with the kids club system so that you don't have to lug around the clunky wave phone. This was our 3rd cruise, and I still haven't really figured out how to navigate the outdated wave phone. I haven't used that type of menu interface since the late 90's, and quite honestly I've forgotten how! Why not link the app? I kind of assumed that in the year since our last cruise Disney would have linked the systems. I'm sure there's *some* reason they haven't, but it escapes me. The wave phone has always been the one aspect of the, otherwise amazing, accommodations that has seemed less than stellar. The only time you *have* to use the wave phone is when your kids are checked in to the kids club. At these times you have to carry this giant relic with you everywhere. It was like a millstone around my neck, haha. Otherwise the app is very convenient and user friendly!! I'm crossing my fingers that by the time our next cruise rolls around, the wave phone has taken a backseat to the app!
Navigator chat - not on Castaway:(
Loved the app and loved being disconnected from everything and everyone except those on the cruise. The app gave me access to all activities, locations, times, and type of audience it was for. One issue we had was when our group went to castaway. We didn't know the chat wouldn't work there and lost track of one another for the entire time on the Cay. It would have been extremely helpful to let customers know what method to use when on Castaway. With other island excursions we all went together or some stayed back on ship so never a need to communicate. But with Castaway, part of the group did the early 3k and others in the group went to castaway later. We had no idea that we wouldn't be able to communicate. Very disappointing although it was not an entire day as the storms rolled in around noon and we were glad to be back together again and able to communicate on the ship. Side note - this is second time writing as my "name" had been used before and all of my comments were erased and I needed to rewrite everything. ☹️
I'm glad to have an app for this cruise. It did help me with activities and some messaging on-board. Problems: you could only add so many people to your group, and we were traveling with 17 so it didn't work out. We also couldn't see their schedules or what excursions or reservations they booked, so that was difficult to coordinate. I wish it would be able to save your personal schedule of the day and reminders, such as when dinner is. It also isn't loud when you do text family on board so I didn't notice my messages until hours later. The navigation of the ship deck was off: it kept on forcing me to see what I didn't want to see: lots of bugs. Difficult to find out what Restaraunts were open at any moment: you had to go through all of them and check the individual times rather than just seeing what's open at that exact time. When looking at the map, it would be great that if you clicked on something it should tell me what it is. Overall it is good and I used it, but it needs improvement and it could be so much better and more useful. Funny, Disney and with all their resources weren't able to get this right.
