“Thanks to IXL, our students' performance has increased dramatically. Because they practice the skills daily, and because the site provides feedback, students are able to correct their mistakes and master the concepts easily.”
Waleska Batista, teacher, Cherry Hill, New Jersey, U.S.A.

“My favourite feature of IXL is that if you get a question wrong IXL will tell you how to solve it and what you did wrong. Another thing I really enjoy is that IXL provides awards and progress reports showing how you do over time. I think these two things are very effective because they make the student feel like they are actually studying and not wasting time.”
Student, Calgary, Alberta, Canada

“This program takes the frustration out of math because it allows the student to practice at his/her own pace and stay focused. It's okay if you mark one wrong because another one will be waiting. This is a great tool to have.”
Parent of a 4th grader, California, U.S.A.

“We like the rewards and certificates; our children work very hard to receive these! The reports are also brilliant in keeping us informed of the levels our children have reached and where they need extra help.”
Parent, Coolah, NSW, Australia

“My students are improving by the day, and some even stay in for recess to work on IXL!”
Helm Jackson, 5th grade teacher, Redmond, Washington, U.S.A.

I am a student not a teacher. But I can say from the perspective of a student that this app has taught me nothing. Why?? The reason is IXL doesn't spread out there lesson like a school does. They present an entire area of math at one using every existing way it can be used in your age group. IXL is only useful as some sort of toned down very bad exam. I used this app when I was in sixth grade so I'm going to give an example from sixth grade. If I were to click on the sixth grade order of operations section I would get every way to use order of operations in the sixth grade thrown at me at once. If that wasn't bad enough it also takes to long. You get given less points for right answers than you get taken away for wrong ones. This means you are forever nearly forever stuck on problems you don't understand until you guess enough problems write. Side note the explanation you are given when you give the wrong answer isn't helpful it only shows the math in its raw number form and does nothing to explain why certain things happened.

Does IXL NEED to be a app?

Hey, I’m not a real big fan of IXL. In fact, it’s so horrible, I would give it negative 5 stars if I could. Every time I try a level, I end up getting like, “yay! I am at 99 points and the total is 100!” But then you get the last question wrong so I’m back at 81 points! The hate it when that happens. Plus, if people hate it so much, then would you be playing when your at calculus? Because there is a ENTIRE column for that stupid thing! And in one column there are about a million levels. Plus, you know how in the 3rd grade levels the limit is 31 questions? And if a question is wrong it COUNTS as a question? Well, I know it because once I had so many questions wrong, that I had 69 questions before. And please, just please with raspberry on top, FIX IXL!!!

P.S. the point: DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH IXL❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️❗️
P.S # 2 the worst/stupidest/dumbest app EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I added this in my review: once it took me 5 hours for 1 level and it took, well, guess what? 122 questions.

Your negligence to fix the system is depressing

Ok I'm writing this review and giving you 1 star because of you unfair and outright unbearable point reduction system. The fact that you only get one point when your in challenge mode is also terrible as well, along with how many points are reduced during the "challenge round" you can keep your point reduction system. I believe that if a student is to miss a problem it should do something other than tell you why your wrong. But the fact of the matter is that to many points are reduced and to little is added, it creates a very repetitive cycle than on manages to annoy the student more and more. I recommend adding and removing the same amount of points, instead of adding less and reducing more. Maybe you would be up to 4 stars if you fixed this one simple coded issue. Until than I have no other option but to side with the other students who rate this app lowly.
