Pandemic: The Board Game is a family-friendly cooperative game. Simple to understand and lots of fun, Pandemic: The Board Game puts you in an apocalyptic situation where you must work as a team to save the world.

*How to play
In Pandemic: The Board Game each player has a unique role with different abilities. On a turn, players will have four actions in order to cure diseases and save the world. They can remove disease cubes from the board; fly to a city in need; trade cards with fellow players; and much more.

At the end of every player’s turn, new cities are infected with disease cubes and Epidemics may arise. You must fight to prevent the outbreaks before they spin out of control.

Pros / Cons of Pandemic...

I'd like to offer my PROS and CONS review of the Pandemic App and it's Addons for purchase.

PROS: Pandemic for iPad is an outstanding recreation of the popular board game, that teaches you the rules as you play. The graphics are clean and crisp, while the fonts are easy to read. Game sounds are appropriate and welcoming to hear throughout game play, while the music can be heart racing and intense much like the Walking Dead TV series. The gameplay is identical to the board game, while the app keeps the cards random and prevents plays from forgetting all aspects of turn sequence (ie. forgetting to draw city cards).

CONS: While the Pandemic App itself is somewhat reasonably priced. Whereas the "On the Brink" and "Virulent Strain Challenge" addons should have been one purchase price of $1.99, and not separately priced addons. Additionally, despite purchasing both addons, I'm NOT able to use or select either of these pricey addons while NOT maintaining a connection to the Internet.

CONCLUSION: While the Pandemic App is a one-of-a-kind game, I believe any App with Addons to a purchased through the App itself should not be allowed to be posted on Apple's AppStore. NOT without a full disclosure to the consumer, warning that the App and/or it's purchased Addons require a constant Internet connection in order to play and/or utilize the full functionality of the App, along with any purchased Addons.

Amazing board game adaptation

This may be the ideal way to introduce new players to the rules of Pandemic. The introductory tutorial is quick and straightforward. As a cooperative game, you can actually play this solo and it works fine.

Aside from that, the graphics and sound in this game are extremely well done and take advantage of the digital format rather than simply copying the board game art into digital form. The ability to zoom in and out of the map makes it work very well on small screens and on larger screens.

The main drawback to hosting a cooperative game on a tablet (or phone) is that it makes it more difficult to collaborate as you would over the real board game.

Fun and Unique, but Needs Expansions

I know I say this after every update, but it is still true... this is a great game. It is one of, maybe, two board games in the App Store where you stop infections and save the world. Most others want you to start plagues and destroy the world. So, if you want something different (and less negative), this is a very well made game. I've had a lot of fun with the solo co-op mode.

My only two complaints about the game are:

- It needs a different kind of expansion. For example, a new map such as a single continent (Europe, etc) instead of the whole planet. Or, maybe a Sci-Fi map such as a colonized Mars.

- Please let us disable all the annoying animations. Most importantly, I do not need to see the cards dealt and cities infected at the start of every game. Ugh 😖😕
