Good for Fans of the Original
Let me say first and foremost, this is not as good as the original on the 3DS. Now that that's out of the way, I can focus on my thoughts for this game. It added in a few new things, such as costumes and accomplices, and the music is a combination of new songs as well as remixes of the original tracks. It does have a few issues that I should address though. Firstly, to get the full experience, you will need to invest more than just the initial payment, though since it's a mobile title that's kinda to be expected. Secondly, it's not exactly a play on the go title, as it requires you to be connected to the internet. However, if you are a big fan of the original, you'll probably be able to see past its faults and enjoy it for what it is. I encourage anyone on the fence about it to look into it and form your own opinion on it, but I will say as a huge fan of the game, I absolutely adored it. I can wholeheartedly say that it was well worth waiting nearly a year just to get an iOS device to play it on.
It's ok, though not as great as the original
The new music is great, I'll give it that. The new difficulties added a greater challenge than the original. However, the accomplice feature is...ok. They don't seem really necessary if you're good at these games or played the original. I usually just sell presents and accomplices since they could easily be leveled up with one blend. There are no cutscenes or voice acting, and the story is almost non-existent. Chapters often repeat the same rhythm games over and over, where are the other ones in the original? The pacing is repetitive, and the puzzles are borderline luck based. It's nothing but a mess...
Also, I experience at least a millisecond of stuttering in some rhythm games, which messes me up. Please fix this minor issue.
I'm not quite getting why this game has such bad reviews. This game has many great qualities. It's fun, good looking, with great visuals for an iOS game, great music, and a quality lengthy game. I understand that it doesn't have the cutscenes and other story elements that the original does, but I'm reviewing it for what it is, and that is enjoyable. My biggest complaint about this, is the fact that there needs to be perfect connection in order to save the game and the warning frequently comes up and makes playing a bit slow, but other than that, this game is great, and definately worth playing! One of the best rhythm games on the App Store!
