The Last Door - Chapter 1: The Letter

By The Game Kitchen

Open iTunes to buy and download apps.

Episodic horror game, with original low-res visuals and a gorgeous orchestral music score. Surrounded by a thrilling sound atmosphere, player’s will experience a really immersive environment through the stimulation of their imagination, just like classic horror writers like Poe and Lovecraft used to.

This game takes part of a daring project coming from a small indie studio. Each chapter is funded by the game community through the website:

What the media says about the game:
"Love letter to Lovecraft". Penny Arcade.
"Soon, I will stop trembling". Gamezebo.
"The world, particularly the audio, has found its way inside my head." Rock, Paper, Shotgun.
"While you can’t see the terror-stricken face of a dead body, you can imagine it, and I always find that to be much more horrifying." Indiestatik.

Just awesome

Very well done. Great writing, good spooky atmosphere, not too difficult but enough of a challenge for some.

Only minor criticisms are that it's short (about an hour for an experienced gamer) and would have liked slightly higher res graphics. It was clear enough to get the point, but the graphics are so well done, I wanted to see more detail! Oh also threw opening scene was a bit confusing at first. After picking up the chair, a better move would have been to tap on the chair instead of where you have to tap.

If you love Edgar Allen Poe you'll love this game!

Yep. I totally jumped.

I great way to spend a hour or two! I'm looking forward to the other chapters. Also, You REALLY need to play this alone, in a dark place, and with headphones. I almost had to turn it off (too spoooooky), but the game is hard to stop once you start. I love it!

It's good

Simplicity of the graphics adds to the eeriness of the game. Straightforward but thoughtful puzzles create a nice level of challenge without too much needless traipsing too and fro. Really enjoyed this thoroughly original game. Scary without the psychopath blood and gore.
