Zero Escape: Nine Hours, Nine Persons, Nine Doors The Novel (999) is a thrilling adventure story from acclaimed writer Kotaro Uchikoshi that takes readers on a suspense-filled journey full of danger, terrifying choices, and unexpected twists toward a variety of endings that may or may not see them coming out alive on the other side.
Nine individuals, seemingly strangers, find themselves awakening to a rude truth – they’re trapped on a ship that will sink in nine hours, and must play a deadly game in order to escape. Kidnapped by the mysterious Zero, these nine must solve puzzles and uncover the location of the elusive ninth door before time runs out. Each player is tied to a bracelet that controls a bomb within their bodies. One wrong move and they explode. However, beyond this life-or-death game lies questions that they must answer: Why have they been brought here and, more importantly, who is Zero?

Truly a Novel Experience
Thrills. Horror. Humor. Characters you'll loathe and characters you'll love - but careful who you trust. Red herrings by the dozens. Fridge brilliance you've never experienced before. This is likely the best story in any video game you'll play. NOTE: This game was first released as a puzzler for the DS, and the story truly is best experienced as a game complete with puzzles on its original platform. This novel version is missing those puzzles and the accompanying largely-unimportant-but-thoroughly-enjoyable dialogue within those puzzles, and cannot quite convey the power of the plot as well. Having said this, for those without access to a DS, do not miss the opportunity to relish this mind blowing story.
You wont turn iff your ipad until the end
I wanted to play the ds version, but I wanted to give it a try on ios. Totally worth the price. It's an 11 hour long novel. The only choices and only interaction you'll have is choosing which doors to enter, which will affect the ending ( multiple endings, plus a real ending). And it's still enthralling and enjoyable due to the story. Expect a rather dark, cruel, amd gruesome story, with heart warming and emotional scenes near the true ending.
Great story and mystery; bad plot holes.
The story is gripping and the mystery is certainly intriguing, keeping readers engaged until the True Ending. Unfortunately, that's when the narrative falls apart. Things are left unexplained, the ending is extremely abrupt, and there are quite a few crippling plot holes that ruin the overall experience, aside from inadequate prose that enjoys stating the obvious countless times. Also, the lack of the original DS game's puzzles lessens the experience.
A game worth playing, but prepare for a disappointing finale.
