- Felix Wedel
"It is more helpful than any other tool I've used. I had been using podcasts before and trying to make flashcards, and that worked pretty well. But, it ended up that I was spending more time making the flashcards than studying. FluentU really solves this."
- David Brown

Bug fixes and performance improvements
The Courses Are Very Helpful
I've only just started this app, so I can't guarantee anything, but from what I've experienced so far, I can say this is a good app to try out. I'm learning some Japanese from this app and I love how it teaches you. It makes you use and get acquainted to the keyboard to type your answers. One flaw I must say I have with this app-and this could just be me- is that I'm having a hard time remembering what it teaches me sometimes, but that flaw can easily be fixed. Another thing that's great about this app is that it has a listening tool to tell you what you're going to learn. It says all the phrases slowly. So why the four star rating? Another problem I have with this app is the bugs it can have. I was learning how to say different types of people in Japanese ( American, Chinese etc...) I typed in one of the answers and it said I got it wrong. It showed my answer and the correct one, and they were the same... Maybe something was wrong with my eyes, but this happened twice. Either way, I can't say you should avoid the app for that reason. It's not bad in any way, and I highly recommend it.
Studying Mandarin Chinese w this.
Before using this app, I placed out in my college curriculum for Chinese. Due to this (and my age), I have a year with no Chinese courses to take. I didn't want to lose my skills so I downloaded this app to occupy myself for a year.
Was a bit nervous to spend $$ (tight budget, college) but I don't regret a thing. Free trial*, give it a shot.
This is great! You still have to put in time everyday-- even for just 20 minutes. Definitely the most quality self-study I've experienced in the last 5 years.
The computer version is better, but the app is great when you have some free-time while waiting for whatever. You get out what you put in, of course, and I actually use the app most of the time and it's still great.
I'm determined to learn French and was already using Duolingo (as well as studying with a tutor, but that's just once a week). FluentU is a wonderful way of expanding your language/vocabulary work each day.
The videos are awesome. Watch them and then follow up with the lessons. My biggest problem in learning French is listening. This has helped a ton. And for $240 for the year (that's the Plus program), it's a bargain as far as I'm concerned.
