Limited cities, forced reviews
My main complaint is that once you reserve through this app, it won't let you make another reservation until you provide a review of the previous place. I hate that …
I happen to live in one of the limited set of places where restaurants use this system, but when I travel it's often useless, because there's no coverage. Also where I am, Open Table and Reserve are evidently in a turf war, so I need both to cover all possibilities, which reduces the ease of reserving. As far as I can tell, the only advantage Reserve offers is to
the restaurants, which pay less in commission (and the user doesn't get the small rebate of dining points that OT offers).
Annoying "Feature" - Mandatory Reviews
It is really frustrating that you have to review a restaurant even if you don't want to, or you cannot use the app. In one instance, I cancelled my reservation, but the system didn't know, and so I had to "review" a restaurant I didn't even patronize. Another annoying scenario - I made a reservation for someone else, but still had to "review" the restaurant if I wanted to use the app. Really annoying. Equally annoying is the "feature" where you select a time and a date, and the number of diners, and it shows you every restaurant in the inventory whether they have space or not. Horrible app design. I won't patronize the restaurants that use it anymore as I'm deleting the app.
Won't use until forced reviews are removed
Great for making reservations at some of my favorite restaurants but the app is making me review a prior reservation before making a new one. Will only book through the website until this is taken out of the app.
