Pure artistic love !
This is one of those apps that changes societies view of games and apps in general. Artistically I have yet to see any game be as creative in its approach. The amount of love and passion seeps through everything you see and touch in the game. Knowing that everything is handmade, one can see the love that was put into it. Major developers can learn a lot from this game. Not for its puzzle solving or game controls or even its graphical prowess. Because let's be honest the game is great but in comparison there are many great games these days and many look better. But all the millions spent on the next big FPS will not give people the feeling that there are playing something special.
This is more a interactive work of art than anything, which in my opinion is the impression only a great game can leave.
Is this for everyone to download..no , but it does not mean that we should not appreciate it. As a fan of iOS games, the work put into this shows me that the surface has only been scratched in regards to what can be down on this platform. The game is most definitely worth 5 dollars . As we have all spent more on crappy gas station food at some point, so why not support an amazing group of artist that are willing to take risk and make there dream and art a reality.
Playable art
As so many others have said, the look and the art make this game. It's fun just to watch Lumi move around her world (would have enjoyed more freedom to explore). But at the same time, I felt sometimes that the game play was suffering in favor of the look. In particular, in the last bit with the turbine room, you view the "action" from way below and it's impossible to tell what's even going on with the character. I realize that is part of the look and the makers couldn't realistically zoom in on every little thing, but I felt like I missed a lot of details and the inability to manipulate the view was often annoying. Also, the puzzles were...weird. So many I could have scarcely figured out without the "handy manual," but with it, it felt less like a puzzle stretching my own mind and more like following complicated directions. Like building something from ikea. You don't get it, you just do it. In hindsight, that's an interesting twist on a game, but not what I was expecting. Okay, but enough negativity: it is a beautiful and fun game! I enjoyed playing and it was well worth the $5 I spent.
I don't get it sometime
And sometime I do. There's no sense of a goal here, and no hints. I really didn't know what to do first or where to go. Thzere is a manual of sketches the character carries but there are many many pages to turn to find what you're looking for, IF you know what to look for. The sketches are hand drawn in pencil so they can be less than clear. Yes this is not an easy breezy puzzler which is great. I wish there was a zoom feature as the manual material is very sm all. One can see right away this game is polished and intelligent and requires thinking. Yay! Well done. Just needs a bit of guidance and bigger letters. Or a map and a hint option. A shove in the right direction. Despite those small things, which had me in a panic, I'm moving along. Very nice graphically and never insulting to the brain. Don't miss this one if you crave more then hidden pictures puzzles
