• Other fixes - we've dusted off and tidied up a little with some general fixes around the app
Most accurate GPS & love MVP!
GPS with this app is hands down the most accurate. You can compare with Google maps and see for yourself. I checked my typical route with my car's odometer too - same as MapMyRun, while my other apps (which shall remain anonymous) totally borked the distance. UA is totally upping the MapMyRun game too. I actually get updates with accuracy improvements while my other app just sits and rot away. This is the only app with what I consider to be adequate cross-training. Some of us need to change it up a little if we want to crosstrain and not get bored. I have to cross train to prevent injury. It's nice to have like, every kind of workout imaginable in this app. Pretty much you name it - you can track it. I use my HR monitor with UA Record app to get most accurate calories. It's mainly for when I do a class or circuit training in the gym. I've had several HR monitors and they all connect to this app. MVP graph shows me the intensity of my heart rate so I can vary up how hard I work out and keep my metabolism rockin'. There's interval training too. It's has everything. And it's free. MVP is cheap too and they give you underarmour discounts. Yessss...
MapMyRun daily user
I love MapMyRun. It's a great app that allows you to keep track of your physical activities. I use it every day on runs, hikes, dog walks, and bike rides. It is super easy and tracks your mileage accurately. My favorite part of MapMyRun is the Challenges section. You can sign up for different exercise challenges and compete for prizes. It's a great motivator. When I first downloaded MapMyRun I was using it to keep track of the Insanity workout I was doing. MapMyRun sent me an email saying they'd noticed how hard I'd been working and attached was a $20 coupon to Under Armor. How great is that!? Another great feature is that MapMyRun emails weekly and monthly fitness reports with a summary of all your workouts. Having your workouts recorded and being able to access them is nice. It reminds me how hard I've been working and keeps me going on days when I don't feel like working out. Also, it's FREE! Go out and use it!
Privacy and feedback issues
Mapmyrun asks for your feedback about the run after each run. If you respond 'yes' you are happy thy direct you to rate their app. If you answer 'no' they don't direct you to rate their up but ask for your feedback. This is clearly dishonest. If you go ahead and type your feedback under 'no' I'm not happy scenario, they respond with a generic email directing you to q&a links etc. this is by far one of the worst customer service I have ever seen
Also, customer service has been tap-dancing around without giving me a straight answer on the fact that the app forces your information on the Web if you choose to post your runs on Facebook. So here is the problem. If you have set your privacy so you can share your runs with friends in Facebook, your runs will automatically be posted on the web. For me, this is a major breach of privacy. After numerous unfruitful exchanges with customer service, I'm led to believe that this is not a mere technical glitch but more so an intentional loop so that mapmyrun gets higher web hits. It's just frustrating that apps can get away with such flagrant breach of privacy.
