Great for the guy in a hurry
Finally an app for the guy in a hurry. I thought it was smart to make it quicker than having to log into the website to search through the categories for a weekend project, but I was outsmarted when I went to favorite a project in hopes of coming back to it later when I was ready to buy what I needed to build that project. I found out it took me to the website where I needed to log in anyway. So, it is basically a catalog of projects where you find one that interests you and click on it, log into the website and find out what to do from there. It didn't end up saving me any of the time I thought it was going to so I'm back to square one. But it has given me ideas for projects I want to tackle in the future!
This a great site but the current vision of the app is broke.
I've been a long-time member of Instructables and it's a fantastic site. If I need to make anything, I check here first. Definitely, 5+ stars. I have also used previous versions of the app without issue.
However, this version of the app is not so great. I use the social media option to log in and,as others have described, this feature no longer works on both my iPhone and my iPad. Also, the categories link on the start page crashes the app on my iPad but works on the iPhone.
I'll stick with with the web site until this gets fixed. Hopefully soon.
Like the Twitter login, comment auto scroll is awkward
Unlike the previous versions, now you can use your Twitter login to access your account. Yay!
However, when writing a comment more than 4 lines long, it keeps jumping up to the top of the comment between each key press. This might make some people dizzy, and it's hard to write on the iPhone when you can't see what you're typing.
