Description

RF Explorer is an affordable Handheld Spectrum Analyzer designed from scratch to be a sort of Swiss Army Knife for the specific needs of ISM band digital communication. Depending on the model and (optional) expansion board you'll be able to cover all ISM bands.

The iRF Explorer application connects to the device over the USB port using a normal USB to mini-USB cable.

You are then able to extract spectrums, spectrograms and capture screenshots. Furthermore simple maxima, averages and standard deviations can be calculated on the fly.

These can be exported (simple copy/paste) as a PNG, PDF for inclusion in reports; as text or Latex for use in a Laboratory Information system or as CSV files. In the latter case - a paste in Numbers/Excel will allow you to further manipulate the numbers.

For those who do not yet have an an RF-Explorer - there is a demo which uses your microphone as the source for a spectrum.

Customer Reviews

App does not work

I just installed this application without reading the reviews, it started up just fine, but does not reconize the wifi card in the macbook pro retina 15"

Unfortunately True Reviews

Looks like to me, on the first run of this product, it DID freeze and require force quit to get rid of, as was mentioned in the other reviews. Looks like a good start to a program that will be of use, but needs some polish for the Mountain Lion Operating system.

Also I noticed that this as many other wifi discovery tools, does NOT SUPPORT external wifi cards. Yes, I know it's easy to assume that all people running this have a built in wifi card, and they do. BUT assuming that limits your product to only that. external cards allow antenna to be connected and are very necessary for pro use. As a programmer it should be pretty easy to build a little option to switch between installed hardware. I hope to see this change soon, and I can rate better on a future version.

Don’t blame the tool...

Everyone complaining about it crashing/not working.. All you need to do is download/install the Silicon Labs driver, and it works like a charm.
