Needs work.
I really wanted to like this game. I reserved judgment until I played all the way through and then some.
It's a cool concept. JRPG from the blacksmith's point of view... Except that the blacksmith is just a dude who plays minesweeper for a living, and you grind that to pay for the heroes' gear that you make for them out of pocket.
Oh and you also play as the broke heroes, who at the end get all the credit, which is the complete opposite of what the game tries to be at the start.
There was no challenge until level 49 out of 50, and even that was only hard because wood stops dropping, so you can't actually make gear anymore... End boss was a joke just like all the others, and there's no real variation in gameplay along the way.
The shop is pointless except as a gating mechanism (let us buy wood since the heroes are too stupid to bring it home!)
You can spend hours in endless mode and there is literally no reward.
Honestly the only redeeming quality of the game right now is it's not IAP-filled freemium shovelware like most iOS games.
Two Awesome Games For The Price Of One
Somehow this game does twice what many many many other games cannot even do once -- get its chosen genre right. This game, to my mind, is worth it for the RPG elements alone, say nothing of the mining and crafting mechanics. I've seen similar titles that do poorly one half of what this game does well... Twice. I have no idea if that makes any sense logically but I hope my point is clear -- these guys did a good job patching together two different game styles that would usually end up being two different games... and turning it into one compelling, cohesive whole.
I really enjoy this game, for me it just works. I think the developers did an excellent job and I would definitely buy other products from them in the future... not just because this game is fun because it's a well designed and structured game that knows it's own limitations and works within them well to bring together the digging/mining-type game with the RPG format. I just plain love this game.
@Devs, thanks for making something this fun and kudos for doing it well.
