What's New in Version 1.0.1
Fixed the MASSIVE bug on arctic that prevented players from completing the game. THIS IS AN URGENT UPDATE.
More details: The bug only occurred in the App Store version of the app, which is why we were not able to detect it beforehand. Apologies!
Most authentic retro experience on iOS!
Kale in Dinoland has been the only iOS game to give an experience I thought only the first GameBoy could do. Not only does this have a great pixelated style, it even has the little visual glitches old games would occasionally have.
The soundtrack, like many old Nintendo game soundtracks, is iconic. It's one of those soundtracks you never forget, like Super Mario Bros.
The difficulty is also very much like video games of old. HARD. And there is a big consequence for getting "Game Over", unlike games today. It puts you back to the beginning of the world you are currently on.
This game, however, is much, much deeper than the old games. It starts of really shallow and simple, and you start to figure out there is much more to Dinoland than you thought. The ending left me speechless.
This game also doesn't have the attention it really deserves. This is a game crafted with much love and dedication, and it really shows. This game is at the top of my iOS retro games list.
Needs a few fixes
I have to say, it reminds me of the days when I used to play platformers on an original Game Boy.
That being said, there's still a little work to be done. The controls could use a bit of work. They tend to be very hit or miss.
There is also a glitch in the jungle world where you have to climb vines on monkeys, except if you fall the monkey doesn't respawn at the bottom, and there is no way to proceed, unless you sacrifice a valuable life to restart the room.
But otherwise, I love the concept. I hope you make more games in the future.
Extremely Well Done!
I am an avid appreciator of such retro platforms as Pix'n'Love Rush, 1-Bit Ninja, Stardash, etc. Although each has its own unique virtues, I am finding that in terms of gameplay and fun-factor, Kale in Dinoland exceeds even these excellent titles. It is easily one of my best purchases in quite some time and I am eagerly looking forward to any forthcoming updates and expansions.
