A little childish
I got the app and only played the first episode - not tempted to buy anymore. It was a very nice game with interestingly smooth and dynamic graphics but there were basically two ways you interacted with the game and they both sucked. First, the extended video scenes are awesome. I feel like I'm in the show! But the two things you actually do as a player is investigate crime scenes and interview witnesses and such. When investigating crime scenes, the ability to scroll the screen was almost impossible. You would sit there sliding you fingers for a few minutes and all that would happen was a red line would be drawn (like you were gonna draw a circle to inspect). Then when you were interviewing people, really annoying, childish questions would constantly be asked. A person would make a statement (like "there's no way I could break through their firewalls!") and it would ask "do you believe him: yes or no" then you'd say no and it's say "why don't you believe him" and options like "he's an anarchist and they are not violent" mixed in with the right answer. It just made me feel like I was back in school where you'd have tests with questions like "the men began their expansive journey. -In this sentence, what does 'expansive' mean"
I guess all things considered, these wouldn't be too hard to look over but for me it just annoyed me more and more as I went. I think I had an issue with the little bit of interactive game time you had was rather hard or annoying.
GREEDY CREATORS! Used to be .99/episode when first released!
How is it that when this app first came out you could buy all of the episodes for about the cost on one currently priced episode? Geez... Too bad I deleted this app after playing and purchasing a few episodes, one of which I purchased for .99 and it would never load, which is why I deleted the app. NOW, it's saying I have to pay 2.99 for the SAME episode I already previously paid for? I should have just "pre-purchased" all the episodes that weren't yet available when I originally purchased this app. Talk about being greedy! You're asking people to pay $2.99 per episode when they are not even long, which means little game play! It's sad how some creators (such as yourselves) expect people to dish out so much money for something that isn't worth half of what you are asking. Get real!!! IF YOU REQUIRE AND EXPECT PEOPLE (customers who are providing you with profit) TO PAY SUCH A HIGH AMOUNT, AT LEAST MAKE IT WORTH IT!!! I would have given a 5 star rating if the episodes were longer, the price to play the game in its entirety wasn't based on GREED, and there were no glitches. Man, at least make it function flawlessly if the price is going to be ridiculous! Simply disappointed! Especially after seeing the cost change from when this app was first made available.
Could use polishing? Feels clunky
Played episode 1. It was very fun and immersive, the expressions were really true to the characters on tv, voices were good when they weren't stuttering, which sadly they frequently did. The menu runs slowly and is confusing, you need to scroll to get to the free episode but it's not obvious that you need to do that, and it's easy to overshoot it because of the lag. I got a couple banner alerts during playthrough that caused the game to slow down, stutter and freeze briefly. The game feels like it is taking up a substantial amount of my phone's (iPhone 4g) resources to run. I would rather have an option to turn down the graphics details than have it feel like it's dragging and on the verge of crashing all the time. Especially when the "scales of justice" would try to appear (for .25 second before disappearing again, not long enough to actually see!!)
I'm going to try it on my iPad before I buy anything. I love the show and this is a really good representation, but if I have to, I'll wait for the stuttering and slow bulky feeling to be fixed.
Try it if you like Phoenix Wright... It's not FUNNY, but the idea for gameplay is similar and more realistic.
