Close to being great
And the improvements keep coming making this a better and better app. First of all, it is still heads above Weight Watchers from a price perspective. The total annual membership is but a fraction of WW's. I also think keeping up with calories is no harder than keeping up with points.
So what improvements have been made? The list of foods available is considerably more than before, even restaurants and supermarkets.
Does it work though? Yes, I achieved my goal of 25# this past week, and now look forward to tracking my weight from a maintenance perspective so that the old patterns of yo-yoing won't come back. My weight loss was partially medical from a stomach problem. I ended up down 50# and looking like a scarecrow. Once I could eat again, I ate too much and 35#'s came back, quickly. Now my appetite has curbed and the gain stopped. A slow but steady weight loss has begun again with a net 5# loss to show for it. I am aiming for a total 25# loss this time and the log in reminders keep me motivated. Finding the foods I'm eating is much easier along with options for estimating portions.
Lose It-I love it!
I bought the premium version so that I can keep track of my measurements and have other nice added features and it was well worth the money. I've lost over 20 pounds since buying it. I've lost weight on my own before, but this app just helps keep me more aware of what exactly I'm putting into my body and I can look back and see how what I ate effected me.
My only two criticisms are that to keep track of water intake you have to add it like it's a food and there's no specific place for it. Also, when you exercise (there aren't many options to pick from without creating your own) it adds the calories you burned exercising to your daily allotted amount of calories. This is silly to me because the whole point of exercising when losing weight is to create a deficit. This could be one thing that only bothers me though.
Overall, whether you upgrade to premium or not, this is the best app I've used for food/exercise tracking (and I have tried at least 10)
I "lost it" over this app
Thought it was great. It would probably be better if I bought Premium but I'm a college student who can't afford the expenses of Premium among my other financial obligations. That being said, the app includes a variety of excellent features including the food barcode scan, which helps me accurately keep track of my macros based on the actual item. My only issue was finding foods on the app database, since app users can create foods to add to the list, there was occasionally too many options for a single category of food (for example: ground chicken or fast foods), all of which differed in specific nutrients even though they were all the same item. That aside, I found the app very useful and intend to eventually purchase Premium to allow me to use all the features of the app, unless I chose to buy a different app entirely which is also possible. I have only begun to explore my options about food calculator apps such as this one and may want to test more.
