I had battery problems with my phone so I spent awhile not daring to use GPS on my bike rides. Now I've got a new phone and I'm back to using this app and have noticed many improvements. It seems more reliable and stable (hasn't crashed on me) and I like the "post to Facebook" feature - though sometimes I have to try twice to get it to post.
One feature that would be nice would be to be able to go back and "crop" off the end of a mapped route, for example when I get in the car and forget to stop the app until five miles in I suddenly hear my phone talking to me. It messes up my stats when I'm trying to keep track of my times and how many miles I've biked.
One thing I used to have trouble with was saving my ride when I was in an area without reception. It used to be that if I tried to record a workout while I had no reception, the app would crash and I'd lose the workout. My solution to that problem was to pause the workout and wait til I was back in reception before finishing and recording it. I haven't dared try to see if this problem is fixed because I'm afraid of losing a workout.
Used to be great, but no longer
I really used to like this app. In fact, I've used it for quite a while. Unfortunately, it has really take. A hit since it was purchased by Under Armor. I'm not sure why, either. It doesn't track the so- called Will because it semis I have trouble tracking heart rate, even with an UnderArmor HRM. The voice coaching is very hit or miss. It usually doesn't work or may start off not working. Suddenly, a voice will start coaching as if coming from nowhere. That can be distracting. There are also times when it doesn't seem to be able to calculate calories or speed correctly when compared with my cycling computer. These were never problems until recently.
It is said because at one time this was the best app available. Contacting Customer Service used to result in very fast responses, but that has too has taken a significant hit. I really hate to write a review like this after liking this app so much for so long.
This is a relatively good app but often fails to record accurately record the ride. In addition, it also frequently gives a greater distance prior to saving them once saved it actually record a significantly lower distance, as mush as three to four miles.
I'd be remised if I didn't mention the positive attributes of this app. It allows the rider to set goals, as well as set a pre- determined half mark distance to help the rider know when the ride is half complete which is quite encouraging for me. It also, offers challenges as well as allowing the rider to check for bike routes in the area for the distance you'd like to ride. It allows the rider the option of recording each ride to track progress. In spite of the few kinks, it's a pretty good app.
