Started walking daily 2 months ago (Dec2014), but started using MapMyWalk a month ago (Jan2015).
Love this app! Has made walking so much more fun: now I know exactly how far I've walked (my reception here is always 5 bars), what all my split times are, & lets me make notes on each workout. (Started raining once during a walk & the app even noted how far I'd run toward home vs how far I'd walked!) Also, even tho I mostly just walk, jog, or rollerblade (so few support rollerblading too), was happy to see so many other different workouts supported.
Only drawbacks are the lack of ease logging food consumption & that I've not been able to figure out how to see a daily (or weekly, or monthly) log of the food I've eaten. Sometimes can't remember if I've logged it twice, once, or not at all, so I usually skip entering it.
If it was easier to log food & review what I've been eating, I'd probably eat better food and less of it… although I have lost 15lbs in the last 2 months… primarily just by walking (2-4miles/day).
All in all, I still give it 2 👍👍s or 5🌟s.
Works fine - slow on iPhone 4
The app does what I want it to do. However, it takes FOREVER to get basic data like splits at the end of the walk. I regularly walk 3.5 miles with some friends and we like to see what kind of pace we've done when we finish. It can take 5-10 minutes for my phone to give me split times for each mile. That seems ridiculous as it logs data each 1/10 mile. That info should be immediately available, not something for which I should have to wait at all - let alone several minutes. Other than that, an some lethargic response times when pushing buttons in the app, it's fine.
I have been using this app for about 2 months. I absolutely love it. I am a senior who walks her German Shepard mix early each morning (hot or cold). I love the voice messages as it tells me when I have reached a mile every day. My goal is 2 miles so when I hear my halfway goal I feel even more motivated to continue my walk. As a senior I feel my 2 mile goal is great but my German Shepard, of course, wants to go a couple more miles. This app is excellent as it tells me calories burned, how long I walked. Every thing my
Doctor asks me to do. Have already recommended it to 2 other seniors. Fantastic app.
