How knowledgeable are you about punctuation? Do you know when to use a semicolon and when to use a colon? Do you use too many commas? Are you deliberate with your paragraph breaks? Do you know the difference between a dash and a double dash? Between a dash and a hyphen?
Whether you want to master your writing skills, or whether you are learning English as a second language, punctuation is absolutely crucial in mastering the English language. Without it, sentences will never sound as they should, and your writing can even be misunderstood.
In a series of 102 multiple choice questions, ABCs OF PUNCTUATION will let you know exactly where you stand in your knowledge of punctuation, giving you a rating of your precise skill level. It will correct you every step of the way, teach you why your answers are right or wrong, and provide the proper explanations. It will offer little known facts about punctuation, and give you practical tips to make your punctuation—and your writing—stronger.
ABCs OF PUNCTUATION is a fun, practical writing companion, and an indispensable resource for anyone hoping to refine their writing skills or master the English language.

THIS IS GREAT!
My punctuation skills needed work, and I learned so much from this application. In fact, I learned more using this for 20 minutes than I have from spending entire weeks reading books on the topic. It was a great investment. The quiz was really fun, too, and it helped me pinpoint my strengths and weaknesses.
I have to agree with the earlier comment, this is too rudimentary to be of any value. The text sections are only two screens and teach very little. The quizes are marginally more interesting but only take minutes to complete. This should be a .99 cent app.
Really useful app
This is a great and very handy app if you want to learn or brush up on English punctuation. The nice thing is it covers everything without getting too bogged down in long confusing examples. It gives very clear, detailed (but not painful to read) descriptions of the usage of each type of punctuation. The items covered are: periods, commas, semicolons, dash, parentheses, hyphens, colons, quotes, paragraph breaks and finally the general mastering of all the punctuation. The app is divided into 3 sections: Learn, Quiz and Index. Learn gives a page or two explanation of each type of punctuation. You can use the arrow button to skip to the next explanation. Quiz gives about 20 questions relating to each different type of punctuation. Some of the questions are fairly easy, some a little obscure, but all are still good questions that definitely test your knowledge on the subject. If you get a wrong answer, the correct answer is immediately given as well as explained. At the end of the quiz, you get a summary before moving onto the next group of questions. And finally is the index. This is broken down into 2 sections, learn and quiz again. It took me a minute of playing with the index to realize how it helps. It is pretty obvious, but in Learn, the index allows you to skip to whichever type of punctuation you want to read (when I first played with this App, I thought you should be able to skip around in Learn but not in the index. You can't, you can only skip around in the Index mode, but that's fine). Then there's the index for the Quiz. This allows you to jump to the different sections of the quiz instead of always starting with question one. Again, when I first tried this app, I expected an index built into the face of the quiz mode, but once I saw that they put it in the Index instead, it didn't bother me. Also, if you enter the quiz through the index, it remembers where you left off. This is important to know because if you play the quiz and turn the app off, then return to it through the quiz button, as far as I can tell, it won't remember you're progress. But if you access the quiz through the index, you'll see a button that says 'resume quiz.' So overall this is a very useful app for brushing up on your punctuation. I would love to see a sequel app that covers grammar in a similar manner.
