Drawbacks over FreeMemory
Coming from the predecessor, FreeMemory, I’ve noticed a lot of improvements. However, I also notice one major drawback: I cannot see a digital readout of the amount of free memory I have left, which I really liked about FreeMemory. I can see a rough estimate of the percentage with the icon — which looks a bit like a battery indicator, honestly — but I cannot see the actual numerical amount of free memory, which is very important to me and what I loved about FreeMemory.
True, I can always click on the icon and view this data. But having it available at a glance was extremely handy, and I appreciated being able to just glance at my menubar if things slowed down for a bit to see why it was behaving the way it was.
Overall this is a great app, and a very useful utility. However, I would very much like to see the return of the digital readout (at least the option to enable it) in the next version.
Nice App but…
This app is good for what it is and does, but it has some overlap and redundancies with FreeMemory which I have been using for several years now. Blending the two into a singular app would give the best of both apps as a single entitity.
One comment for those of wearing bifocals; the significant memory usage icons at the bottom of the screen need to be larger than they are now.
Keep up the good work.
A Life Saver
I’ve gone from a near constant state of sluggishness and hanging with more than a three programs open at one time to smooth sailing 90% of the time. I can also easily tell now which programs are hogging memory unnecessarily and adjust how I work. I’m rarely effusive about a simple utility, but this one is really terrific.
