Desperately seeking iOS 5
I have tried a lot of RSS and Google Reader clients for iOS over the last few years. MobileRSS has been my app of choice for quite a while, and the iPad version was the first app I bought immediately after ordering an iPad 2.
Since iOS 5 was released, however, it would be generous to call this app piece of junk. The iPhone version can't load anything, and the iPad version goes to an ISP search page if I scroll an article's synopsis more than once. Loading the full article work fine, although not every time. The 22.214.171.124 DNS workaround discussed in forums is unacceptable. Even if I wanted Google tracking all my Internet usage, I don't control every WiFi network I use.
If the developers have given up on the app, then do the decent thing and remove it from the App Store. At least then I won't feel as cheated if I have to buy Reeder or some other app that I may not like as much as I used to like MobileRSS. If it's going to be fixed, then do it already. I will happily change my rating if and when that happens.
Not Developer's Fault
There are a lot of people claiming that the developer has stopped updating or that the developer no longer cares. While I cannot dispute these claims, I can say that the developer did not cause this app to stop working.
MobileRSS is designed entirely around Google Reader. Unfortunately, Google discontinued its Reader service, which basically destroys this app's functionality. The developer can do nothing about this short of switching to an entirely new RSS service, in which case every user would need to start from scratch anyway.
To the developer, I have to apologize for the 1-star review I am giving your app, which I regret, because this was once a very great RSS app. However, I do not want others to purchase this app, because it simply no longer works. Please remove this app from the store, because I can guarantee you that if certain people buy this app since the discontinuation of Google Reader, they will not hesitate to engage you in a lawsuit, and I cannot see you emerging victorious.
Great app - possible explanation for iOS 5 problem?
This is an excellent app - I love all the sharing options and the sliding panes interface,which is very similar to the official Twitter app.
After updating to iOS 5 I began experiencing the same problems as many reporting here: fetching of full pages erroring out, very long update times etc.
However something interesting just happened - my iPad was replaced at an apple store. The replacement was running iOS 4. I updated it to 5 and then redownloaded all my apps via iCloud. The mobileRSS problems are gone and it's back to its old self! Is it possible that it needs to be clean-installed on iOS 5 rather than on board during the iOS update?
