It's a pretty awesome game
I wish that I had physical controls, because of the minor lag inherent in touch gaming, but I suppose that that's not really up to you guys. Overall, the game is fun. It's difficult, occasionally confusing, but overall it's pretty great. I don't like that there are some parts of the game that are less skill and more cheap deaths but I understand that artificial lengthening is occasionally necessary.
The endgame is incredible, though. This is about as good as, though in many ways better than, megaman. There aren't too many parts that force you to have split second timing, though they are enjoyable unlike many similar titles. I guess, I'm summation; this game has some big flaws at certain points but it is so absolutely impeccable, otherwise, that I that I couldn't NOT say "get this game." for a buck, it's one of the best deals on the app store. This is snes console quality, competing with the other great old platformers already out there. I can't say that I don't love it. 5/5
I would like to start my admitting that I am a hardcore Megaman fan. I grew up with the NES and love a difficult platformer. This game is nowhere near as hard as Megaman and the like, but it may leave a bad taste with the casual iPhone gamer.
The most important aspect of a game of this nature are the controls. They are simple and responsive. There is a d pad, a jump button and a shoot button. They work most of the time but on some of the trickier levels your finger may slip causing you a death (really the fault of touch screens, not specifically the game).
Gameplay is fun and rewarding. Later in the game, there is a heavy focus on timing in order to be successful. Throughout the game you will collect tokens which will unlock power ups in grandmas attic. They include the power shot(a faster and longer ranged gun), and extended hover, and the vertical boost to allow you to reach higher often hidden locations. After beating everything you unlock grannie and get to play with all three power ups. This allows access to the most difficult levels in the game.
The physics work well and by the time I reached 100% completion I was jumping and hovering through levels with skill and ease. Like any good game you will get better and learn as you play. You will discover secrets, blast mutants, and jump between disappearing platforms, and you will have a ton of fun doing it.
Crash on startup since iOS 8
This was one of my favorite--if not my favorite--platformers on iPhone. The controls aren't perfect (nor could I expect any better), and the game itself can be frustrating at times (in a good way), but overall I find it beyond reproach.
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to play this game for months. Yet I've seen practically no mention of such a problem among the community. The developer seems to have abandoned this version of the game. I should mention I have not attempted a reinstall of this game for fear of losing my progress. (This may change. I am losing hope.)
I cannot vouch for the value of this game, as I got it for free. It took me many enjoyable hours to reach the end. I loved the music and art style. I would never have downloaded it for $9. I would recommend it, If I knew the game were functional on others' systems.
