If you liked Geometry Wars or Super Stardust, you'll love this! Nano Fighter is a fast paced dual-controller game that puts you at the helm of your own microscopic vessel. Your goal is simple: destroy as many parasites, viruses and alien invaders as you can without losing your ship. Pilot your way around the swarms and rip them apart with your plasma gun!
For the current version (2.0) there are 70 unique levels and unlimited random ones providing hours of gameplay! There are many kinds of critters you must battle and unlock as you proceed through the levels. During the game you must look for weapon, shield and bomb upgrades to help you along. Every five levels you pass you will unlock a "warp" so that you can start from that point if you were to be destroyed. You can also leave the game at any point and continue from where you left off. Build up a high score by sustaining a score multiplier. See where you stack up against the world with the simple one step online registration. Are you good enough to climb to the top of the lists?
The graphics in Nano Fighter are crisp and clean. You navigate your vessel around in a dark gloomy world, until the battle begins. Critters of all sorts come at you from all angles. As you blast through them with your plasma weapons, their destruction brilliantly lights up the screen, making it a pleasant experience and adding to the excitement and pace of the game. Firing off a bomb slows down time and creates an amazing green ring of destruction that spreads and demolishes anything in its path!
The sounds of destruction are specially picked and tuned to provide that sense of accomplishment. The explosions create a pleasant crisp and powerful sound that make you want to destroy more and more, simply to hear it again.
The music is fitting and futuristic and plays in the background, just loud enough to set the mood, but not distract you from your mission. (you can also disable the music if you decide to)
We spent a long time optimizing the controls so that we can provide the best and most responsive gaming experience you can get on an iPhone / iPod Touch. You fly your vessel with the left wheel, and control the direction of fire with the right. As you rotate the wheels your thumbs tend to take up large parts of the screen, so we decided the best way to solve this problem was to seamlessly shift the central location of your ship away from your thumbs, giving you the best visibility you can get at all times! There is a training mode provided for those who have never played a game of this kind.
We've created a simple and quick online scoring system. If it's your first time submitting online scores you'll be prompted for your name. That then gets associated with your device so no messing around with passwords or emails. Your world rank is based off of your highest local score.
One neat feature is the ability to change your name whenever you want, giving you a way to rub your high score in other player's faces. ;-)
With future updates we are planning more vibrant graphics and backgrounds, and many more unique levels.

What's New in Version 2.1
Improved stability ( should fix crashing )
Lots of potential but needs polish
Pros: -I got it when it was free, if not it is only $0.99 -Shooting controls are better than most games like this -Rarely takes a performance hit even with a lot of stuff on the screen Cons: -All of the enemies are faster than your ship, so you can't strafe/shoot your way out of danger like literally every other twin stick shooter ever made... very poor game design choice. -Powerups are few and far between. Since you're taking a lot of damage from the enemies that are faster than you and that kamakazi into your ship you really need those non-existant powerups. -Game freaks out when you try to play your own music, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. When it does work the game takes a major performance hit. -There is no sense of spatial awareness because of the background. At times you feel like you're just floating in the middle of the screen spinning and shooting. If feels like your ship doesn't actually move, the environment moves around you. All in all I'm glad it was free, if I had paid even $0.99 I would be disappointed. Some tweaking could turn this into a 4-star game. No one has made a good twin stick shooter for iPhone yet, and this one certainly isn't it.
I own all the shooters from isotope to light wars, even the older ones like sentry alpha. But Nanofighters is the one game that offers a non-stop action experience that is dependent entirely on your skills! No longer are your bullet dodging days plauged by poorly developed controls! Here is a uniquely designed shooter that has proved it's compatability with the ipod touch platform. And Im not raving only about the controls but also that you can play for long sessions or a few minutes and still get the same exciting, adrenaline feuled experience. isotope and light wars are right up there in a 4-5 star range no doubt, But this here is a game you shouldn't choose one or another for, you shouldn't put this game in a "debatable" catagory..it's a must have.
Best game on the iPhone!!!
I'm just gonna have to try to get the number one score again
But the developers have provided enough of a challenge in this update where I can't even get to level 35 :( soon I will... I love the new backgrounds and the spread shot.
I don't understand the review saying the ship flies too fast. I think it makes the game more challenging and nowhere near impossible but.. Fun. It makes you have to duck and dodge out of the way of the enemies instead of just flying away from them ( which in my opinion would get boring)... So yeah the controls definetly aren't a problem with me. Excellent job on the update and I hope you will see me as number one soon :)
