What's New in Version 1.74
- Fixed a bunch of bugs leading to crashes.
- Now stripping bad XML characters in various data feeds from NPR, leading to more tolerance and more content
Did you know?? I've been waiting for MONTHS for NPR to make their content available to me in a formate that is conducive to streaming playback in a custom playlist!
Give'em a nudge for me.
Pointless without continuous play
The program menu lists each program AND segment seperately, and they each play individually then stop. It's like trying to listen to a music album but having to manually choose each song after the last one plays. Who has time to take their phone out every 3 minutes and choose the next segment to listen to? And the titles display only several words so most of the time you have to click through and read the entire description page to decide whether to listen to it or not.
The difficulty of using this app makes it pointless to use on the go, which is the only reason anyone would use it in the first place. Until they figure this out, I stick to using the NPR's streaming feature on their website from my laptop at home.
Shows promise, but light on features so far
In under a minute I had interesting content streaming via AirTunes, but I don't see a way to queue up a playlist, only set a bookmark, which seems like the wrong model for short form content of transitory interest. Without that feature this app is a lot less appealing.
Also it would be good to be able to see all content sorted by date, or some favorite set of categories at a time, rather than having to select one specific category.
You've come a long way
What started out as a great app, then got crappy, is very good once again. Thanks so much for all the improvements, including the return of the Podcast Directory(though it would be nice to be able to listen to Bob Edwards). Still crashes occasionally, but overall, 2 thumbs up.
