Ok but harder to advise others now
Another example of a poorly managed "upgrade " / modification to a popular app.
It used to be so easy to send a message to your guests with the info. There was a little arrow clearly visible and presto.
Now you need to "add guests" and it appears you can only do it as a text, not an email....what if you don't have their mobile number, which often occurs with a business associate.
Also once the message arrives, whether a text or something else, it should have an Outlook/ other calendar option so you/ they don't have to manually add the info to their calendar.
These should be easy and obvious things but seem to have been overlooked.
User friendly, thoughtful
Love the “add to calendar” feature and inviting others to the reservation via text or email. Wish the map / directions link would allow me to choose to open with Google Maps instead of defaulting to Apple Maps. Photos could be better quality. Would be nice to have a tips and highlights section. Sometimes I wonder how true the restaurant reviews actually are. Feels like every restaurant is 4-5 stars. But I’ve yet to be disappointed by an OpenTable restaurant.
Still want to use it
While I agree with "Mostly Good" reviewer about the user interface, esp on a phone, and while I know that many restaurants have stopped or never began using the OpenTable service because of the fees, as a diner I really appreciate being able to reserve on a res service that's more robust than the very fast lightweight ones, plus I don't want so many apps just for restaurant reservations. The app can be really annoying and non intuitive, even after all these years.
