What's New

Version 2.1.2

With PDF Viewer 2.1 we're going all in on Apple's new document browsing UI. If you already run iOS 11, you'll notice the whole file browsing part has been replaced with Apple's familiar new interface. Adopting this UI is the most convenient way to offer access to all files on your iPad and iPhone.

2.1.2 adds a setting to disable the page grabber, improves website importing and fixes an issue where some PDF documents would not open.
2.1.1 fixes an import issue on iOS 9/10 and adds a loading indicator for opening documents.

If you experience issues with opening files, please try to restart your device and ensure you're on the latest version of iOS 11 and all 3rd-party apps such as Dropbox or OneDrive are updated.

Editors’ Notes

PDF Viewer impressed us right out of the gate with a streamlined interface packed with powerful features. Organizing, editing, and annotating documents is a snap thanks to toolbars that emphasize just the functions we need. Combined with Apple Pencil support, bookmark syncing over iCloud, and other modern capabilities, it’s like having a desktop-quality PDF toolkit wherever we go.

Latest Update Makes It Useless

I’ve used this app for a few months to take notes in school. It’s been beyond amazing. It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for in a PDF notation app. However, lately it’s started deleting my annotations randomly, making it completely unusable. I’ve lost hours of lecture notes at this point. As soon as this issue is fixed I’ll be happy to return to my 5-star rating, but for now, I can’t even use the app and am forced to purchase another option.
Update: Spoke to support and essentially every answer was “Well, that’s not our fault. That’s also not our fault. That’s an issue with a third party, and not our fault.” I understand having issues with third parties, but if the issues are so severe, stop advertising these features until the issues are worked out! Since then, the app has started freezing and crashing every single time I try to use it for more than 30 seconds, losing all my changes. But hey, that’s probably not their fault. This app would be absolutely perfect if it actually worked like it’s supposed to.

One positive note: their support is very responsive and gets back to me quickly every time.

Wow! First your response time to any issue is reliable and fast. I had some questions on an older version and you helped resolve them. BTW— the problem was me. Sincere thanks for not making me feel “non-savvy.” I am totally impressed with your product and every update make a useful product better! My husband watches me use it and now he wants to use it for his work as a physicist. It is convenient for research documents as well as I gotta run and don’t have time to read this article. There a tons of reasons to use this app that maybe I wouldn’t use, but could. Totally happy and impressed.
