What's New in Version 1.3
Fixed crash on some devices.
The description says imagine watching while waiting for a flight or getting an oil change. If thats possible I havent found a way. You would have to link playon on your pc to your phone. Theres no settings or account to make that work.
Basically, for somebody that already owns playon this wont have much appeal. You've already got it setup to stream throughout your house. Why would you watch something on your phone?
I think this is geared toward getting people to buy playon more than giving their current customers something cool.
It could be good on ipad I guess. The app does work but you have to be on the same network with your computer. You cant run this on your desktop and watch it on your phone away from home. There may be a way with a vpn or something but i havent tried it. Just not worth it.
Still a kink or two to work out, but that is typical of versions this early and the kinks seem easily fixable. This is an awesome app though. I'm able to watch The Daily Show, Lost, The Office, Letterman, and pretty much anything else I want. I even watched an episode of Frontline from PBS the other night. Not only does it let me watch shows and movies on my iPhone. I can also stream them to my Xbox and watch them on my TV. AWESOME find.
The haters are wrong about functionality
You most certainly CAN watch PlayOn from anywhere over a 3G connection. You go to the mobile access tab in PlayOn settings enable it turn on UPnP on your router while on the same network and boom you're good to go. The people that say this app is pointless or that the description is misleading obviously have no idea what they're talking about
