Description

Dandy is an intuitive and amazing sampler/synthesizer for iPhone. It really is a quirk, mind bending interactive composition with highly inspiring endless possibilities though very simple and sleek.

Portable Dandy is inspired by Dandy Desmonds composition “Magnetic Loops for 15 Tape Decks” from 1938. Which is one of the earliest known works of electroacoustic music, rediscovered just 5 years ago.

- Pitch Jog Wheel
- scratch The Wheel with two fingers
- psychedelic sound effects
- up to 28 changeable samples (manage via iTunes)
- Shake to restore original pitch.
- AudioBus

Proudly made by east-german hackers.

"Portable Dandy is a very nice app, just spent some time with it and really enjoyed the sounds." & "It's a great app that we look forward to spending more time with" -- BoulangerLabs

"Portable Dandy comes with a really original UI, and is really funny to use... A Super App for Free at this moment. So don't hesitate to download it!" -- Apps4idevicesMusic

Strange, but cool

Don't get me wrong, it's kind of a cool idea as a sampler, some of the default loops are a bit strange (but again, different enough to be cool). Would like the ability to record or import/export loops.
UPDATE: Added a star because after playing around with it, I found that you can import your own loops via iTunes (plus, it mentions that in the description......oops). Also, the more I play with it, the bizarre included loops are great.

is it here? ,

Different but broken :(((

I got a little medicinal one night and played with this thing for like two hours. I gotta say it’s very different, unique, super fun, but, when I try to record into my DAW the sound doesn’t sound even close to the same. If that was fixed and it was pretty seamless I think I’d actually pay a little bit for this app. Oh yeah and maybe some kinda stop/start and reset button would be cool.

Interesting is an understatement

I wish I could find more about this, but there isnt a whole lot of literature out there!

Interesting concept: Manipulate samples as you would on a magnetic tape player.

Very avant-garde, not for someone who thinks Pop is the paragon of music.

Id hope to see more developement on this, with the ability to record your own samples and not just upload! Some grainy monotone, lo-fi recordings through the mic would be interesting!

It DID crash on my 6 with 8.3, but only once. It opened right afterwards and was fully functional. So there is hope that it does work!
