Tomato is a time management application based on the Tomato technique. This technique allows you to get the most out of time management.
The basic unit of work in the Tomato Technique can be split in five simple steps:
1. Choose a task to be accomplished
2. Work on the task for 25 minutes
4. Take a 5 minute break
5. Every 4 working periods take a longer break
The Tomato technique is considered one of the easiest and most effective ways of getting things done. Both the technique and Tomato have been recommended by productivity blogs such as Lifehacker, The Next Web and Gizmodo.
Tomato is the best app for implementing the Tomato Technique. The application is fully customizable so you decide what working period and break lengths work best for you. The Tasks mode allows you to add, edit, prioritize and mark your to-dos as completed. Learn about your progress and challenge yourself with the always up-to-date statistics. Promodoro takes advanatge of iOS 5 technologies such as notifications, allowing you get alerts when the app is not running. With Promodoro, you can finally eliminate the anxiety of time and enhance focus and concentration.
Turn time into a valuable ally and become extremely productive with Promodoro.
This application does not yet support iPhone 5's screen resolution.

Helpful but needs some improvements
Just downloaded this today, and it has definitely increased my productivity. It is simple to use and does allow for a certain degree of customization. I also like the statistics functionality. It is worth the $0.99 price, but for me to give it one or two more stars, the developers need to make a few small changes/fixes.
As other people have stated, the alarm sound is very low and doesn't allow for the user to select a sound. If you switch to another app, the alarm doesn't go off. Also, there is no way to select how many Pomodoros to do before getting a long break. I did six 25 minute task cycles without a long break, causing me to finally give up and stop the timer.
This suggestion is more of a dream feature rather than a necessity, but it would be nice if the app would use the iOS Task app. I would love to be able to keep my tasks in one list!
I will keep using this for now and hoping that an update is already in the pipeline. I will just have to decide how many Pomodoros to complete before giving myself a long break.
Its Deficiencies Ruin the Overall Purpose
I’m not completely sure if the Pomodoro Technique actually works because this app hasn’t allowed me to do so. Promodoro advertises a complex app, but the basic features are lacking and therefore, the app is hardly capable of helping.
First of all, the alarm doesn’t even sound; a reminder shows up on screen without any noise, which I’ve missed over half the time. The second biggest issue is that there’s really no value in statistics aspect of this app; the number of pomodoro cycles I’ve gone through really has no meaning to me. Also, I feel while the task may help, other apps do a far better job.
Overall, the app serves its purpose, but can’t help someone who is deep into their work (i.e. a college student). If you can pay attention to the timer visually and like irrelevant statistics, then Promodoro will work for you. If you’re actually trying to improve your study skills, look elsewhere.
Good but needs improvement
This app is pretty good but could do with a few improvements. One being that sometimes the sound randomly turns off this can be very problematic for staying on schedule. Another thing it could use is more variety in the choice of sounds, perhaps even giving the option of linking to your own music. Also the option to turn off the continuous transition from break to pomodoro would is necessary. I there's been many times I've forgotten to turn off the timer and it messes up my count. Doing these things would go a long way to making this a 5 star app.
