What's New in Version 2.0.0
The biggest trivia game in the world just got a lot bigger, with tons of new features and a beautiful new design!
We’ve expanded QuizUp and added a whole new dimension to the game. Each topic now has it's own special topic page where you can chat and share stuff with other cool people who share your interests! It’s seriously very neat and you need to get on it right now.
It also looks super awesome, because the design people just could not stop.
Don’t worry. QuizUp is still a game at heart. You can challenge your friends in any topic for a quick, real-time match or randomly play someone from around the world, which is a great way to meet new and interesting people.
Speaking of meeting interesting people! Finding friends is now ludicrously easy. Search the whole world by age, gender, location and mutual interests to find your kindred spirit, long-lost twin or possible arch-nemesis.
We are incredibly excited about the new QuizUp and we can’t wait to see what you and our amazing community will make of it.
I absolutely love this game, but I hate the new update, & will until there are a lot of issues corrected. It was an educational app, now it's a social media app. The font size is so small, I need a magnifying glass to see it. I hate how we can't delete our inbox messages. I don't like how once we finish a game & it goes to the results screen, when we move on to the next game we can't go back to the results screen from the game before, we have to go completely out of the topic. I hate how our stats are set up. They don't show our percentage wins, exact number of games played & our wins/ties/losses, average score, & average answer time. They don't show our individual topic stats like before. The rankings for each individual person doesn't show the exact amount of points they have, it rounds them off. There are a lot of negatives about the update. I don't think it was thought through & tested very well before it was implemented. The only positive thing with the new update is the boosters are gone. I'm sure there will be more small updates in the future so, once all of the issues are corrected, I'll go back to giving it a 5 star rating. But for now, I'm giving it a 3 star rating.
Lots of BAD design decisions
You would think that a highly successful app would have actually asked users what they wanted and want they needed before a major release. Clearly QuizUp decided that they didn’t need to talk to users before venturing out on this highly misguided 2.0 release. The fundamental issue is why people play trivia against other people. It’s different if you know someone already vs. a complete stranger. When I play my son, I want to be able to quickly invite him. (They’ve made that easier.) But for the rest of the world of players, I’m glad they are there, but I have no interest in engaging with them beyond a trivia game.
QuizUp was good because of the content: lots of content, lots of topics. That aspect has gotten lost in this update. I can’t easily see the topic list. Meanwhile, the ability to add new content to stale topics has not be incorporated. Instead of trying to create a fake and forced reason for people to have a different type of virtual social experience, it would have been far more effective to use the money on building communities for content gurus.
Only a few things...
I really loved QuizUp in the old version, it was like a more fun, easier to play, cleaner cut trivia crack. It was my favorite thing to play in the old version, and this new update had those basic functions along with a beautiful new look. However, QuizUp was never a "social app" for me. It was cool to play people from around the world, and the chat was OK, but it didn't need to be this much of a change. There doesn't need to be a socializing hub (which still has bugs and lacks functions like refreshing) right below the menu for the topic I'm about to play. It's nice that I can message and post stuff about whatever topic I'm in at that moment, but it doesn't need to be right below the menu for the topic where it can cause lag. If anything, it should be it's own icon next to the "invite a friend" one, where it doesn't intrude on anything. Other than that, I like the update.
