All investments involve risk and the past performance of a security, or financial product does not guarantee future results or returns. Keep in mind that while diversification may help spread risk it does not assure a profit, or protect against loss, in a down market. There is always the potential of losing money when you invest in securities, or other financial products. Investors should consider their investment objectives and risks carefully before investing.
Margin trading involves interest charges and risks, including the potential to lose more than deposited or the need to deposit additional collateral in a falling market. Before using margin, customers must determine whether this type of trading strategy is right for them given their specific investment objectives, experience, risk tolerance, and financial situation.
System response, execution price, speed, liquidity, market data, and account access times are affected by many factors, including market volatility, size and type of order, market conditions, system performance, and other factors.

Here's what's under the hood in our latest update:
- Bug fixes and improvements
Well this is embarrassing…
So I applied for a Robinhood account on June 27, 2017, followed all the steps to a tee, and it still says to this very day (Nov 3rd, 2017), “Application Under Review” every time I sign into the app. I have contacted customer service multiple time, but to no avail. On July 7th, 2017, the one and only time I’ve ever gotten a response said, “It appears that even though your account is approved, our clearing firm is encountering technical difficulties preventing you from logging in. Our team is working to fix this issue as soon as possible and can let you know as soon as we're able to push your account through for approval.”
Well, I guess the term “soon” is a subjective word for everyone, but I didn’t envision it being used for a period of over 4 months later now and counting. Customer service never responded after that, the only canned response I ever get back from them whenever I inquire as to the status of my account is, “Your request has been updated.”
I guess the old adage goes, “You get what you pay for,” but I didn’t expect it to be this bad. I usually give people the benefit of the doubt when it comes to most things, but the level of professionalism of the people running this app is awful.
These guys are amazing
I was skeptical at first because i came from traditional platforms where paying for each buy/sell transaction was just a crappy part of the game. So what was the angle? Something this great is hard to believe it was for real. The angle was honest people trying to create a workable platform for the little people. It was to help enable all to afford to invest in our own future. Since i have been using robinhood i have been spreading the word and helping friends and family starting to look at investing as an obtainable option to build toward fiscal freedom. The app is wonderful, totally free, and always being pushed to get better. If you havent given it a try then you really are wasting time and money. I owe these creators a lot. Since investing in my first stock i have created investing in my future my new hobby and this is what enables me to keep going at zero barriers to entry. AWESOMESAUCE is an understatement to describe the team behind this revolution!
Frustrating start with Robinhood
A day after I had my unproductive call with Robinhood (and wrote this review), I got an email inviting me to complete my registration. I was able to do so, and my account was promptly approved. It seems to be functioning smoothly so far.
In light of this, I’ve changed the one star rating to four stars. The app is doing what I need and is easy to use — but I withhold the fifth star because the app should not have such a significant registration glitch, and customer service should be better able to help resolve such a problem.
About a week ago, I downloaded Robinhood and started filling out the application. When it got to the point of asking for a social, I paused to check my paperwork. During that delay, the app moved on to the next step and didn’t give me a chance to enter the required info.
I submitted a ticket, then called customer service, and was told the application was incomplete — there was nothing they could do to let me complete it and no way they could delete or deny it. My only option, I was told, was to create another account with another email address. No matter that the account in limbo has some of my personal data — I should trust their “bank-level” security measures.
Penalizing me for a flaw in the app’s design is hardly the way to encourage new users or engender trust. I’m less than inclined to create a new account after seeing how the first attempt went down.
