Learn how to shape sound through touch
Play around with a huge range of sounds from delicate flutes to guitar leads to pulsing dance floor beats. Learn how to shape and deepen any sound through five movements — Strike, Glide, Slide, Press, and Lift — that become musical on the Lightpad surface.
Start making songs
Have fun experimenting with electronic music composition on a Lightpad Block. Anyone can do it! Make a song by choosing sounds, recording loops, and mixing them — all within the easy-to-use interfaces of the app. Explore basslines, chords, and leads, and start layering these musical elements together to make amazing tracks. Speed up and slow down your tempo at the touch of a finger. You don't need to be a DJ to start making music.
Share your creations with friends
It’s easy to share your finished projects with friends and family. Just upload your project to NOISE.fm, ROLI’s music sharing platform, through a simple click in the app. Share your music via email or social media. ROLI PLAY helps you get feedback on your musical ideas, so you can refine them. Because no project is ever truly finished.
Create a sonic signature
ROLI PLAY introduces the SongDial, a revolutionary visualization of music. The circular Songdial tracks your instruments like sonar on a submarine — yet with the geometrical beauty of a mandala. Its appearance changes as you add different elements to each part of your track, becoming your personal sonic signature.

Is there a way to make negative stars
This company is the worst. I regret owning any of their hardware. The software needed to use Blocks will not install on my Mac, and this app won’t even start up. It just shows the logo and disappears. Nothing will install. Now I have several hundred dollars of useless, squishy crap.
Contacting customer service is pointless. I’m still waiting a week from this most recent time that I needed help. If your customer service is that backed up from customers having issues, maybe you need to reevaluate your product.
Please remove their apps from your store so that no one is even tempted to download them. I guess if you want people to buy new Apple products, leave it. I almost smashed my phone in anger while trying to make this work.
App is broken and no longer launches
I’m not going to sit here and say the Roli is a bad product. What I will say is their software for iOS and iPadOS is SEVERELY lacking. You have to connect to a computer to change any of the settings on any of your blocks, and, at that point, I might as well abandon the iPad altogether.
However, those that say they lost money on a product that doesn’t work? All the Roli stuff works perfectly fine in dozens, if not hundreds, of other apps. It works with a PC or Mac. The products Roli makes are really good, and their FREE suite of desktop software is awesome. It just blows my mind that they create a set of portable, playable instruments, but then neglect the iPad.
WhatTF happened
I thought it was my phone low on memory cuz I used to use this app all the time- it was the quick & easy way to show off a light block and just sketch musically.. then I put my phone in a lawn mower! New phone, reloading useful apps and this just keeps crashing yet their Noise app still works. Doesn’t matter updating or deleting & reinstalling, just a waste of bytespace now.
