Just tap “start” and begin your run. Run An Empire will track your location (from your pocket) whilst you run, whether you’re in your home town or across the world. The places you run through will become a part of your empire, earning you coins as you go. Invest your fortunes back in to your empire and bring your people into the next great era of civilisation!

Super fun! Hexes should be counted more than once though

I love this game, I first found it on Kickstarter years ago and I’ve been following it ever since. It definitely motivates me to go run! I would like it more if the way it tracked what hexes you go through was different, because often an out and back run feels sort of disappointing because it only counts the hexes you go through once and not on the way back, so it’s only half of the rewards for the distance of the run. Also it would be nice if you could add a title or a description or maybe just a marker for run or walk so that it’s easier to look through your run history. It’s a great game though, I’ve told all of my friends about it!

Update: I am in the Iron Age and have been for probably a month and a half or so, but there has been no progress. When I go out on a run I can currently get maybe 3 billion coins, but to progress to the next era I need one quadrillion, which isn’t really attainable. It’s probably because of an update and science balancing and all that, but it would be nice if people that downloaded the app earlier could also get these benefits so we could continue to work through the eras, because I’m pretty stuck right now

Good game, but about that progress glitch...

I was at about 95% to the medieval era until last night when I downloaded an update. Now it’s back to 0% and the progress bar won’t move, even though I’m generating tons of coins.

UPDATE: I have 9 castles and almost every building from my era and still can’t progress past 0%. Pretty frustrating that the developers won’t chime in on this bug.

UPDATE 2: OK. So with the latest patch it finally shows progress in coins instead of percent. And I can tell I’m progressing, just veeeerrryyy slowly. Makes me wonder if the devs boosted the science rewards for getting through the early eras and also made it take more coins to advance? People like me who downloaded day 1 would’ve missed out on the bigger science rewards, then got hit all at once with the harder level caps. Still wouldn’t explain why the 95% progress I’d initially made toward the era disappeared, but... it’s a theory. Sigh. Guess I’ll just have to gut it out until I’m generating enough coins to make up for the science I missed.

Other than the glitch I’m enjoying this game a ton. Motivates me to run further than normal and explore new routes. And castle battles are a welcome addition.

Gave advancement broke weeks ago... not fixed

I used to like the game and I loved the original concept of capturing castles and strengthening castles by rebus Teri game them or running faster past them. But castle capturing is devoid of strategy. The only strategy is NOT TELLING running friends about the game as they would too easily take your castles. After capturing 70+ castles in a major city because no one else is playing makes castle capturing non competitive and boring. The game should really incorporate a team concept so that players are incentives to get their friends to play and get the word out about the game or provide means to reenforce castles and make them harder to take away.

The final nail in the games coffin is that the game has locked down advancement preventing even the ONCE most dedicated of player from advancing to new levels. The devs have been completely silent on this bug and refuse to fix it.

The only enhancements to the game have been for monetization but with bland castle capturing that rewards keeping the game a secret and no more advancement why spend real money on the game anymore? What’s the incentive?

Lastly while strava import now works quickly the app doesn’t capture castles on the route or within loops. The game also doesn’t properly render the shareable route maps for strava imported runs.
