What's New in Version 5.8

Fresh new laces
- Look carefully and you’ll notice the "running man" has been replaced with a new logo. Why? While we love anything related to MC Hammer, RunKeeper isn't just another running app, we're about tying every run together in a fun and inclusive way.
-Our new identity, "the shoe lace," reflects the endless places you’ve been, all the ways you’ve grown as a runner, and the many new routes and roads ahead. We're the same RunKeeper you always loved, we're just expressing ourselves a little better. Learn more at

Runkeeper Elite is now Runkeeper Go
- In more makeover news, our subscription service Runkeeper Elite is now Runkeeper Go! (As in Go Go Power Rangers or go shorty it’s your birthday… or just get up and go!) Runkeeper Go has all the goodies that Runkeeper Elite always has, plus our latest additions, Prescribed Workouts and Runkeeper DJ. It’s all about making it easier for you to get out the door and build awesome lasting running routines. And it’s way nicer than your high school gym teacher. We know the word elite sounds pretty serious and intense, and Go better reflects our more motivational and inclusive approach here at Runkeeper. What better time to give Runkeeper Go a whirl?

What happened to the capital K in RunKeeper?
-It drank too much coffee and stunted its growth. Runkeeper it is. Consider this a public service message on the dangers of caffeine.

Instead of changing your look, update with the times with Apple Watch support

Before the Apple watch I would have given this app five stars. Now with the Apple watch I would say one or two. With the watch it is basically just a display function and doesn't utilize the heart rate function or any of the other functionality of the watch.(all fairness I don't believe Apple has released the heart rate availability to other app software so forgivable on the heart monitor ).

A benefit to the watch is that you can run without your phone and it will synch with it and the health app as soon as you get back, and is decently accurate as long you bring your phone on occasion, to calibrate it to your mechanics. If it will update a workout to the health app, why hasn't RunKeeper been updated to accept workouts done without the phone by utilizing the same data pull?

I soooooo want to remain a customer as the app is good if you don't have the Apple watch. Unless you update your software to be truly compatible with the watch, I am afraid that I will continue to not use the app and my subscription will expire. At expiration and there is no update, I will free up room on my devices and use what works for me.

Used to work well

Updated: several months and several updates later, the notifications big is still there and driving me nuts. The new logo is also really ugly. Also, trying to assign a previously recorded run to a training plan activity doesn't work because some of my recorded runs don't appear in the history, even though they do appear in past activities from the home page. This app isn't keeping up, especially compared to the recent updates from comparable apps such as strava. I'm very close to deleting...

Past review: Really like using the app overall but lately I stopped getting notifications from it. I went into settings and see that notifications is indeed turned on. I turn it to off and then back on again to see if that would fix it, and i restart the app. Still doesn't work (and I know it still isn't working because it won't let me set a reminder for my weekly weigh-in). Please fix!

Motivating, Helpful App

Even just using the free version, this app has proven to be very helpful for me in building my mileage. Great to see what I did in past months and strive for more.

Two enhancement suggestions for the developers: 1) Add a way to track steps throughout the day like a pedometer or fitness band. I want to track this all in the same place I track my workouts, but separately. 2) I mostly do half walking, half running on any given day, so have a feature that knows when you're running vs walking based on your pace.

Thanks for making this and nice, new logo! I do plan on paying for this soon =-)
