Great as an iPhone game can be.
Most forget that the iPhone and iPod aren't PSP's or PS3's. Despite what you wish, you can never have a true Uncharted on the iPhone. But Gameloft does a good enough job of imitating it. Except for the gruesome climbing in the first four levels, the game is truely perfect. After fighting in the arena in the Egyptian tomb, everything gets better. The city is suspensful, the boss battles climatic, and the few times you fight a plane are cool. The dialogue is a bit cheesy, but most gamers aren't basing their experience on the story. It should be on the gameplay (back then, Pac-Man and Mario didn't have dialogues). The game doesn't have a replay value (As the game is quite linear). If anything, I would recommend getting the game on sale.
As far as I know, Uncharted only gets more popular everytime someone plays Shadow Guardian.
I didn't know what to think about this game but, its great in terms of combat, the action is smooth and you never miss a beat. The graphics also impressed me because this is one of the nicer looking app on the app store. The only downside to this game is that its full if repetition, I feel as if a major blockbuster game title comes out, say "Uncharted" and Gameloft just tells its Dev team to spit out a pretty game without much purpose. The only three things you do in this game is, climb (may involve getting an orb and placing it somewhere), shooting, and rotating ancient stones to point a beam of light or a laser. Honestly thats pretty much all you do. All in all this game gets boring fast, I don't even feel like finishing the third level. To be honest the Free version of this was tons better, at least they had an additional mode where your timed too kill a load of guys while easily hiding behind cover. This game should be kept around a dollar, which was when I got it.
This game is beautiful - I'll give it that. The gun combat is pretty decent. The action is few and far between. Platforming segments happen way too often and offer no real challenge. The game holds your hand through them all and there really is no variety.
The gun-play is fun once you understand how it controls - which takes a few skirmishes given the clunkiness of it all. Like I said before, the action isn't well planned and you'll spend 15 minutes scaling pillars for only a 2 minute battle afterwards.
I've played about 80% to completion hoping the pacing would change, but I've given up. Luckily I picked it up during a sale so I feel I got my money's worth.
You're better off getting Prince of Persia: Warrior Within for a similar action-adventure experience.
Also Gameloft needs to fix their broken achievement system or move to GameCenter. Nearly all my achievement rewards don't register.
