Description

ShutterCount displays the number of shutter actuations (the shutter count) of your Canon EOS digital camera - click “...More” for the complete list of supported cameras. The shutter count is read directly from a USB-connected camera, and thus provides accurate numbers that are not attainable with simple EXIF-based methods.

With ShutterCount you can easily check whether a newly purchased camera is really new, or check how heavily used a pre-owned item is. And you can save a trip to a Canon Service Center by doing the reading for yourself.

ShutterCount provides unlimited readings for an unlimited number of cameras, so you can freely track actual camera usage. Even if you work for a rental house or just lend a camera to a friend.

ShutterCount only displays the shutter count for still photos - video clips recorded are not included in the number. For a separate mirror movement reading (that includes videos) you should consult an authorized Canon Service Center.

History logging allows you to track camera usage. Logs are stored in CSV format that can be imported into Apple's Numbers or Microsoft Excel for further processing.

Note: for the best compatibility with your camera it is recommended to upgrade the camera's firmware to the latest available version.

WiFi on the EOS 6D and 70D MUST BE DISABLED as it blocks the USB port when enabled!

ShutterCount is certified to work with all of the cameras listed above, using their latest firmware revision.

The app tries to retrieve shutter count information for other non-certified Canon EOS digital cameras with a DIGIC III or newer processor (with the exception of the EOS-1D Mark III and EOS-1Ds Mark III).

The EOS 5DS, 5DS R, 750D / Rebel T6i / Kiss X8i and 760D / Rebel T6s / 8000D cameras do not provide shutter count information. Whether it's a firmware bug or a deliberate omission is not known at this time.

The EOS-1D Mark III and EOS-1Ds Mark III as well as older Canon EOS digital cameras do not provide shutter count information through the USB port and thus ARE NOT SUPPORTED.

Please quit all applications that might connect to your camera (e.g. Canon EOS Utility, Kuuvik Capture, Capture One, Adobe Photoshop Lightroom) before launching ShutterCount.

It Works

Couldn’t get a shutter count for my Canon 60D from any of the online applications, so I reluctantly forked over the three bucks for this app. It was worth it. Worked exactly as it’s supposed to the first time with no issues. Simple and straightforward interface— just know that you need a USB cable to connect directly to the camera to use this app. Unlike some other apps, this one reads the information directly from the camera (probably more reliable anyway) rather than viewing a photo file from the camera to determine the shutter count that way. Now I know my exact shutter count for when I re-sell this camera. Useful tool to have around for buying/selling used cameras, and given how much cameras can cost, three bucks is totally worth it to know an exact shutter count.

Great little App for the price

Used it on my Canon 5D MKII’s before I put them up for sale and it did exactly what it said it would do. People who bought the gear appreciated the info and I was happy it agreed with what I was saying was the usage on the cameras. It may be just me but i prefer being able to connect directly to the camera with the cord that came boxed wih the camera. Money well spent.

This app really works!!!

I have been searching online for something that would tell me the shutter count on my canon 5d mark iii. Nothing worked until i read some reviews about this app working for other people. Well this app is great. It was only three dollars and worth every penny! If you own a canon dslr and need to know the shutter count this app works great.
