Sight Word Bingo
I have taught reading for many years. Any fun, new way to practice word recognition is a positive.
I appreciate being able to repeat a word. I have auditory perception problems and know that many of my students do, as well. And for that same reason, I like that I can mute the song.
I don't agree with the labels put on the different levels, but do realize the need for levels. I would much prefer to see level 1, level 2, etc.
In one of the later levels I had the words write and right. It marked me wrong when I chose 'write' on the first spoken word.
I like how it keeps track of how many words and mistakes were earned. However, the only way to reset this app is to quit the game. There is no way to save a child's score and no way to have more that one player.
I agree that it would be best played on an iPad. I have it on my iPhone 4. The words are displayed clearly, but very small for little people.
I believe the word "a" should be pronounced as "A," and not the short sound if the letter.
I hope this review helps you to improve your app. I would definitely purchase this app for 99 cents again. Thank you for another tool in teaching reading.
Great concept if you could it.
I purchased this app and was very impressed with it's content. It contains all of the Dolch words listed by level, which is perfect. The disappointing part is, that you can't hear the word that the bingo caller says. She speaks sooooo low that you have to listen several times with the iPad up to your ear, then look over you bingo card and and see if what you thought she said is on the bingo card, the tell your child the word, so they can find it. Please fix this, because it really is a great concept. I would have paid more than $ 0.99 if the problem was fixed.
This has been changed to use Siri's voice so it is loud and clear.
Not Loud Enough
A cute app for learning, but the words are not said loud enough. I have very good hearing, and I had to hold our iPad up to my ear in order to hear. Don't even attempt to listen to it with the music on! My first grader needs a little help with reading, and this is cute. Just wish it were louder.
With Family Sharing set up, up to six family members can use this app.
