I have to admit it's getting better, berrer all the time

The Sirius App has come a long way over the last couple of years. I use it daily to listen in my room, through connection to my room sound system, or when I'm out walking listening to audio books.

Some of the customization controls work great. On the 1940s music channel I can filter out all the pop vocals of the time and just get it to play the top swing bangs of the era - Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington. Tommy Dorsey, Artie Shaw. And the light classical music "Pops" channel I can adjust to play only the most well-known classical "hits." Customizing the Broadway channel not as successful. The songs it returns are good, but there are not enough of them and before an hour and a half has passed you are hearing repeats.

This is a good app that should become very good given another year. On the quarterly conference calls CEO Meyers used to barely mention streaming and the App. For the last year now he talks about the need for the mobile app and how many resources they are putting into it.

If you think you're going to get what you want - think again

I got free year trial of SXM with streaming in 2015 to listen to Howard Stern. Never had a problem. Then when I signed up I realized I had to pay separately for the streaming service. No problem. About a month after paying I started to get spotty reception for Howard. A lot of playing for 20 minutes then "channel currently unavailable". I would have to reload the channel. Frustrating but still could listen. After a couple of weeks the channel would come up but never work. Problem. Called "customer service" ( I say that VERY loosely) and they told me and my wife to delete and reload the app on our phones. Did that and now Howard 100 and 101 aren't even an option. I called two more times and my wife once. 0 help. The most incompetent people I have ever talked to. They finally said they would "escalate it" and get back within 5-10 business days. That was 2 months ago. I have paid for nothing. Forget this app, forget SXM. Just take $200, record the sound of you flushing it down the toilet and listen to that over and over because that's basically what you're going to get buying this product.

So far so good

I've been a subscriber for a long time but just starting using this app. I have had no problems with battery drain nor reception. I don't doubt the other reviews but wonder if their issues have different causes? I don't have Howard Stern, perhaps the issue is with that station only. I've used a lot of other music apps over the years, and by far, I love the SiriusXM stations above all. I do agree that customer service could use some more tech savvy people to deal with those issues, not every caller is just inquiring about billing or products. Please keep modernizing the app, because while the stations and choices do legitimize the cost, an outdated app alone could render Sirius obsolete if it doesn't exceed or at least meet the technology of competitors. I'm a big fan honestly, happy with the app at this stage, so far so good. Not to be stingy, but more modernization. Five stars if the next update blows me away!
