Skitch - Snap. Mark up. Share.
Open the Mac App Store to buy and download apps.
See something that sparks an idea? Use Skitch to snap it, mark it up, and send it on in an instant. Your bold ideas stand out even brighter with Skitch.
People everywhere use Skitch to help them visually share their thoughts with others. Here are a few ways you can use it, too:
Mark up photos of silly, cool, or inspiring things you see and share them via social, email, SMS, and more.
Annotate photos of your backyard to plan out your vegetable garden.
Share a diagram of the earth’s layers and have students label it with you
Capture a map, mark it up, and share it with your friends to show them where you'll be.
Open a PDF and highlight changes to skip the lengthy, confusing email chains and give clear feedback.
Skitch’s PDF Markup feature requires an Evernote Premium account.
An Evernote account is required to save to Evernote. All other capturing, mark up and saving and sharing functions are free and do not require an Evernote account.

Great little program
This ‘screen capture program’ really has it all. Sure Apple’s ‘Preview’ can capture but you still have to go through steps to get it to do what ‘Skitch’ can do right from the Skitch window using the icons. Being able to highlight captured text and use symbols and annotate with an eye catching symbol and/or bring attention to an object or text is simple and really nice. A full compliment of capture ability is all in this software.
Being able to annotate, crop, highlight, markup, prelate, resize, well just about everything you’d want a capture app to do.
Everything is handy and easy to user. I had it on my computer for months and forgot asbout it. When I saw what it does I made it my main capture utility. So far no slow down problems but I don’t use Evernote much so I don’t know if that causes any problems with slow down.
One thing I would like is that it could be used with Microsoft’s ‘One Note’ as well as Evernote. That would be a great addition!
Overall this is a very good capture utility.
annoying pop-ups and poor save
initially, this was my favoirite screen capture app. But I have gone back to the pricier but far more functional SNAG-It by TechSmith. The software has only very limited editing and annotating ability. But the deal breakers for me were the absolutely annoying pop-ups that come up everytime you want to make a new screen capture and ask you whether or not you really, really, really want to cancel the last one. The abilitiy to save captured images is also very limited and awkward. Lastly, the software’s integration with Evernote spyware, and constant advertisements for Evernote were also a turn off. This software had great potential but was ruined by its clumsy attempt to force the user to save files to Evernote, or pay the price with awkward, multi-step requirements to export the file to some other location/format.
When first downloaded, it was great. I was so happy to have found this app. But as i used it, it got slower and slower and slower, to the point that now, after barely a week of use, it is so slow it’s unusable. It takes like half a minute just to scroll up or down my image… need I say more? After some research online, turns out Evernote made some system changes and since then, many users have been having an experience like mine. Very unfortunate. Looking for an alternative and will likely delete.
