No support, does not not work

Really should be able to get 0 stars. This is a result of no support, I have the original sling box , this company initially said I could watch any where but never mentioned that I would have to pay extra for each device I want to make work with the box. Now they have basically stopped supporting the original box by forcing software updates. My box stopped working months ago and have been fight with them because the box keeps trying to update and freezes at 26%. Online faq's say the companies new updates are not compatible with the older equipment. Try calling them and you'll hear we will talk to you for a one call fee of 50$ That's extortion. I will not pay when they have designed this to be obsolete without stating they are not supporting the product any longer. All appearances on their website they still support the product. The new app for the iPhone asks for a password that is different from the one you have had since day one. You actually login using your original login in info the app asks for an addition password. My password for the account is not valid for this screen all the while I'm still logged into my account. Go figure. When this worked it worked well then the company has been bent on trying to hook you on a subscription. That was the beauty before as I already pay the sat company. I recommend returning your device. Don't buy the company support is non existent.

Longtime slinger

I have had a sling box since their first box, which I still have, and it works fine. Also have a newer Singbox HD Pro.
This product requires Internet/ wifi skills. From time to time you will have to configure your router to enable it to communicate with your sling box. But, the product works beautifully, and delivers full cable service anywhere you have web service. You can allow any friend, someone traveling perhaps in a remote, no tv available, location to access your box and watch your full cable offering. I recently did this for a law partner, while he was stuck in a remote rural Chinese town.
Even though you can now get other TV content over the web, including select cable offerings, nothing yet replaces sling box, as most of these others will be blocked when you are out of the US.

Problems with Xfinity X1 else 5 stars

I recently bought a Slingbox 350 and connected it to my Comcast Xfinity X1 system. With the right network configuration, especially with the resolution of Roku handoff from iPhone in this week's release, performance is outstanding and warrants 5 *

However, there are a couple of problems with the iPhone App that are VERY annoying. I've corroborated this behavior with others in the Slingbox community forum using the latest app on iPhone 5;

In contrast to the iPad slingplayer which works seamlessly with the X1, it is very difficult to control the X1 using the iPhone slingplayer. In particular

1. Apart from the swipe up/down to change one channel at a time, a bug in this release makes it very difficult to change channel using any of the guide, favorites (including swipe left/right) or keypad. The only workaround is to use one if the navigation mechanisms such as selecting a favorite and then quickly selecting the remote control function and pressing the circle. If you're fast enough, you change channel. If not, tough.

2. iPad and browser rendition of the X1 remote and function translation is excellent but there's no equivalent on the iPhone. Very annoying.

Please fix these Slingbox!! I'll happily beta test but currently very frustrated with what could be the best app integration in iOS.
